Banksters Win One, Lose One in Congress

Bernie Horn, The Campaign for America's Future: "Yesterday, the US House of Representatives handed bankers in the credit card industry a defeat. But almost simultaneously, mortgage bankers won big in the Senate. Senator Richard Durbin lamented that the banks 'are still the most powerful lobby on Capitol Hill. And they frankly own the place.'"

By James Nadal

AN ALTERNATIVE site for the controversial Foxes Piece phone mast has been found, communications giant Orange has announced.

In a joint statement with Wycombe District Council the mobile phone operator revealed “a potentially suitable location” has been earmarked - in Station Approach - after a series of tests were carried out earlier this year.

Campaigners have issued a cautious welcome to the news, saying they will reserve their celebrations until it is certain the 12m tall antenna in Little Marlow Road, Marlow will not be built.

US: Culture of Unpunished Sexual Assault in Military

Dahr Jamail, Inter Press Service: "Sexual assault of women serving in the US military, while brought to light in recent reports, has a long tradition in that institution. Women in America were first allowed into the military during the Revolutionary War in 1775, and their travails are as old."

The Rise of China and the Demise of the Capitalist World Economy

Seth Sandronsky, Truthout: "A bit like Malcom X, author Minqi Li used prison time to read widely. The latter studied radical political economy for two years when Chinese leaders locked him up for a critical public speech after the Tiananmen upsurge in 1989. That was then. He is an author and assistant professor of economics at the University of Utah now. Li's 'The Rise of China and the Demise of the Capitalist World Economy' is a must-read for all concerned with the future of the earth and its people."

Administering Food and Drugs

by Nancy Levant

We need to step back and look at very fundamental clues which led to the freakish ignorance of the American people. Let us begin with health. We the American people are the most drugged people on the planet. Senior citizens, bar none, are walking chemical experimentation organisms. With or without all the drugs, most seniors still die between the ages of 70 and 80, but the drugs that infect their systems are bizarre chemical cocktails and many are drugged to lethargy and death under the umbrella of humaneness or clinical trials.......

Expert says 'just another flu virus,' so why the fear?

In an average flu season, 36,000 Americans die from the flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control. And between 5 to 20 percent of all Americans get the flu.
