A CROWBOROUGH couple who claim a mobile phone mast next to their house gave them both breast cancer have described its removal as "the end of a nightmare".
Margaret and George King, of Church Road, Crowborough, saw the mast come down at the end of last week after a prolonged campaign to see it removed.
The couple, who have both had mastectomies and have blamed the Vodafone mast next to their house, have described their relief.
Speaking on Thursday last week as the mast was removed, Mr King, 77, said of the workmen sent to remove it: "I could have hugged those guys this morning, when I saw them cutting up the mast. In our dreams we wanted to do it ourselves."
The event marks the end of an 11-year ordeal for the couple, who moved into their current home for their retirement.
