Conspiracy of Banks Rigging States Came With Crash

A telephone call between a financial adviser in Beverly Hills and a trader in New York was all it took to fleece taxpayers on a water-and-sewer financing deal in West Virginia. The secret conversation was part of a conspiracy stretching across the U.S. by Wall Street banks in the $2.8 trillion municipal bond market.

How Investors Made Millions from People Facing Eviction

A six-year conspiracy by veteran real estate investors to rig bids and stifle competition at tax sale auctions made two chief organizers at least $10 million, largely from fees homeowners paid to keep from losing their properties, according to federal prosecutors.

More homeowners choose to default on loans

The report found that the incidence of strategic default is higher among those with higher credit scores and larger loan balances.

How Stagnant Pools of Government Money Could Help Save the Economy

Ellen Brown, Truthout: "For over a decade, accountant Walter Burien has been trying to rouse the public over what he contends is a massive conspiracy and cover-up, involving trillions of dollars squirreled away in funds maintained at every level of government. His numbers may be disputed, but these funds definitely exist, as evidenced by the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFRs) required of every government agency. If they don't represent a concerted government conspiracy, what are they for?"

Crisis and Leviathan: Observations amid the Current Episode

America’s slide into a police state

by Wendy McElroy

The Baltimore, MD police are determined to establish new law by broadly reinterpreting (to their advantage, of course) how an existing law on wiretapping can be applied. Recording people on a public street where no expectation of privacy exists doesn’t fit the traditional interpretation of wiretapping, especially since the use of cameras-on-the-street by authorities has become ubiquitous. So why is 24-year-old Anthony John Graber III facing criminal charges for a video he recorded on his helmet-mounted camera during a March 5 traffic stop? Because some of the footage was posted to the Internet and it embarrassed the police officer involved, Trooper J.D. Uhler...

Shahzad and US foreign policy

Future of Freedom Foundation
by Jacob G. Hornberger

Ever since 9/11, Americans have generally fallen into two camps in explaining why our country now faces the constant threat of terrorist attacks. The first group is composed of people who claim that foreigners, particularly Muslims, hate America for its freedom and values. Things like rock-and-roll, beauty pageants, Lady Gaga, and intellectual and religious freedom drive the foreigners crazy with anger and hatred, claim the people in this group, which drives them to commit acts of terrorism against America...

America’s approaching debt disaster

National Center for Policy Analysis
by staff

When the Greek economy melted down recently its citizens rioted in the streets. Some have called it ‘the death-spiral of a welfare state’ — too much borrowing for too many social programs for too long. Eventually, the bottom falls out, says the Christian Broadcasting Network. But if you don’t think the economic chaos in Greece can come to America, economists say think again. America is on a fiscal course economists warn is unsustainable — racking up debts we will not be able to repay. This nation, they warn, is already on the path to economic ruin...

Obama and civil liberties

by John W. Whitehead

What we are grappling with today is a government that is cutting great roads through the very foundations of freedom in order to get after its modern devils. Yet the government can only go as far as “we the people” allow. Therein lies the problem. Having allowed the government to expand and exceed our reach, we find ourselves on the losing end of a tug-of-war over control of our country and our lives. The hour grows late in terms of restoring the balance of power and reclaiming our freedoms, but it may not be too late...

Obama Has Learned Nothing From the BP Blowout

Dave Lindorff, ThisCan'tBeHappening: "President Obama claims to have learned a lesson from the disastrous blowout of British Petroleum drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico: a 'cozy relationship' between the agency that regulates oil drilling, the Minerals Management Service, and the oil industry, he charges, allowed companies to drill in vulnerable offshore areas without properly assessing the risks to the ocean and its ecology."

Maybe We Can All Get Rich Cleaning Up Each Others' Pollution

Max Ajl, Truthout: "The pictures are everywhere and they are really ugly: the waters of the Gulf of Mexico marred with cocoa-brown blots of oil, seabirds brown-black with oil gunk that will probably kill them. Reportage of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizons offshore drilling rig is full of facts about ecological devastation, mismanagement of the rig, corporate wrong-doing and, rightfully, Barack Obama's abominable stance on offshore drilling. But could something good come out of this mess?"

Can you see the government’s hidden role in the BP oil spill?

Downsize DC
by James Leroy Wilson

The BP oil spill is another example of the destructive nature of government guarantees and bailouts. I know that BP has agreed to pay more of the clean-up costs, beyond the government-provided liability cap. I also know that they’ve been threatened by Congress and the Administration if they don’t. But this is hypocritical, because Congress created the liability cap and the clean up fund in the first place!

Do good, upstanding citizens have a moral obligation to allow themselves to be oppressed, harassed, terrorized, assaulted, and wrongfully detained or imprisoned? Die Bundeswehr im Kriegseinsatz in Afghanistan

"Die Bundeswehr im Kriegseinsatz in Afghanistan - Die militärische Situation
2010 für Deutschland"

Referent: Jürgen Rose, Oberstleutnant a.D. - (Buch: "Ernstfall Angriffskrieg")

Dienstag, 8.

Seine militärische Ausbildung erfolgte u.a. in Fort Bliss, Texas/USA.
