More wi-fi rules for schools call

Wi-fi allows users to log onto the internet without a cable connection
A council has called for more guidance over the use of wireless broadband in schools.

Wi-fi allows cable-free web access, but some scientists fear it emits radiation similar to mobile masts, which have been linked to cancer.

Unions and Civil Rights Groups Knock Out No-Match Rule

David Bacon writes for Truthout: "Merry Christmas! You're fired. This could be the scenario for over eight million workers this coming holiday season, if a new regulation announced by the Bush administration goes into effect. But within days of a Washington press conference where the rule was made official, a federal judge stepped into the fray and stopped the administration from going through with its plan - at least for the moment."

Drumbeat for Attack on Iran Grows Louder

Thomas B. Edsall reports for The Huffington Post, "The drumbeat for a military assault on Iran is getting louder at some conservative think tanks, in the offices of hawks on the Bush and Cheney staffs, and among ground forces in Iraq dealing with weapons and explosives constructed in Iran."

Campact-News 20/07 Dienstag, 18. September 2007 - Es schreibt: Christoph Bautz (christoph @campact.de)

Weltkindertag: „Keine Kinder zweiter Klasse“

Pressemitteilung vom 18.09.2007

A way for America to assert its moral strength

Christian Science Monitor
by Alex Little

09/18/07

In The Art of War, Sun Tzu, the noted Chinese war strategist, advises military leaders to ‘embrace unexpected tactics.’ Although more than two thousand years old, this advice remains sound. Today, as policymakers struggle to repair America’s reputation abroad, they could borrow a page from Sun Tzu’s book: The United States should join the International Criminal Court (ICC). To date, more than 100 nations have joined the ICC, which is the world’s first permanent international criminal tribunal. It serves as a court of last resort to prosecute genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity when national authorities are unable or unwilling to do so...

What’s the point?

WHAT is the point of an elected council if the only people they represent are members of the Government?

I refer to the shocking way in which Herefordshire Council recently accepted T-Mobile's application for a mobile phone mast in the centre of Colwall in spite of considerable opposition.

In a very small locality well over 200 people opposed the mast by signing a petition or sending letters of protest. Many of these individuals represent larger community groups, including children. This was clearly a most unpopular proposal.
