Voting Rights Are Too Important
Two editorials, one from Adam Cohen of The New York Times and the other from The Boston Globe editorial staff, explore the ramifications of the Supreme Court decision this week that upheld a voter ID law in the state of Indiana that will require voters to show photo identification at the polls. Adam Cohen calls for Congress to uphold the Constitution and act to regulate federal elections, while The Boston Globe scolds: "Voting is a fundamental right. ID rules should be no more stringent than is necessary to keep the voting process secure and orderly. That's what Indiana had - until partisan legislators saw an opening and exploited it."
