Masts and care for community

SIR - I was delighted to read Tim Langdon's letter regarding mobile phone masts on church towers.
It was very helpful to get all the facts regarding money paid to the Government which makes it clear why the mobile phone companies are eager to claw back their investments.
As a member of St Mary's Church, where we are so often reminded of our need to care for our neighbours, I find it hard to understand that they are even thinking of having a mast on the church tower. There is no firm knowledge about the safety to public health and I hope that public opinion and care for the community will stop the mast being erected.
