Der ehemalige Berliner Finanzsenator und heutiges Bundesbank-Vorstandsmitglied Thilo Sarrazin behauptet, Geldmangel sei nicht immer das Problem, ein Teil der Hartz IV-Bezieher würde an "Verhaltensarmut" leiden.

Anlass der neuerlichen Hartz IV-Provokationssprüche des Thilo Sarrazins war eine Diskussionsveranstaltung in Berlin. Sarrazin war neben der TAZ Redakteurin Ulrike Herrmann eingeladen, die gerade ihr neues Buch "Hurra, wir dürfen zahlen" vorstellte. Herrman zeigt in ihrem Buch auf, dass die Mittelschicht gegenüber Hartz-IV Beziehern (sog. "Unterschicht") aufgewiegelt wird, obwohl sie schon Jahrelang die steuerlichen Entlastungen der sog. Oberschicht bezahlt. Dennoch würde sich die sog. Mittelschicht zu den "Gewinnern" zählen und sich pardou von sozial Schwachen abgrenzen. Das Unwort "Sozialschmarotzer" würde für die Armen dieser Gesellschaft verwendet werden, obwohl die Reichen immer weniger Steuern zahlen müssten und defaktisch der große Anteil der Steuerlast bei der sog. Mittelschicht hängen bleibt. "Die Mittelschicht sieht sich an der Seite der Elite, weil sie meint, dass man gemeinsam von perfiden Armen ausgebeutet würde." So, I suspect, do many Americans. What responsibility — what options — do generals have when they believe civilian leaders, the president, the vice president, and the secretary of Defense, are bent on a ‘wrongheaded’ war? I recently put that question to former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith, who served from 2001 to 2005 and was a major architect of the war in Iraq. ‘If it’s a debate over what’s the smart and right thing to do,’ he said, ‘the president is the elected representative of the American people. Somebody has to make policy for the country, and the country decides by democratic means [that] it’s going to be the president.’ His implication seemed clear. Americans elected George W.
