A New York District Judge has ordered the Federal Reserve to disclose the destination of around $2 trillion dollars in bailout funds after the Fed failed to convince the Judge that the records should be exempt from the Freedom of Information Act.

Those of you still hoping for ‘change’ can forget it. Young Mr. Obama is working the same number that young Mr. Bush pulled on us. In Obama’s address to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Phoenix, Ariz., on Aug. 17, he made his commitment to war in the Bananastans irrevocable. It would be wonderful if public servants seeking to associate themselves with the military would cater to the agenda of the Veterans for Peace. For a president of the United States to pander to the VFW is a disgrace. While the VFW is not a pack of latter-day Brownshirts like the American Legion, the two groups possess a common value: they never saw an armed conflict they didn’t like. If they had to serve in a pointless war, everyone else should too...

Morgen soll die Sitzung des Haushaltsausschusses nicht nur Aufklärung über die Dienstwagen-Affäre von Ulla Schmidt bringen, sondern auch über die Feier von Deutsche-Bank-Chef Ackermann im Bundeskanzleramt. Dazu erklärt der Bundesgeschäftsführer Dietmar Bartsch, Mitglied des Haushaltsausschusses:

Warum "schenkte" die so integer erscheinende Kanzlerin Deutsche-Bank-Chef Ackermann eine Geburtstagsparty im Bundeskanzleramt auf Kosten des Steuerzahlers? Aus Dankbarkeit für Parteispenden oder als Dankeschön für die Beratertätigkeit im Zusammenhang mit der Bankenkrise? Aus der Party wird jetzt ein offizieller Termin. Dabei könnte das Kanzleramt wissen, dass das bei Ulla Schmidt auch schon schief gegangen ist… Das Verständnis der CDU-SPD-Bundesregierung vom Umgang mit Steuergeldern ist höchst skandalös. In Zeiten der Krise mit Kurzarbeit in Größenordnung, wo Millionen Menschen um ihre Arbeitsplätze bangen und im Staatshalshalt tiefe Löcher klaffen, greifen Kanzlerin und Bundesgesundheitsministerin schamlos in die Steuerkasse. Von Kanzlerin Merkel fordere ich, die entstandenen Partykosten zu begleichen. Gleichzeitig muss die Kanzlerin offen legen, welche weiteren "Geburtstagspartys" das Kanzleramt ausgerichtet hat.

RESIDENTS campaigning to stop a phone mast from being built near their homes are refusing to give up their peaceful protest.

A determined group have been keeping a round-the-clock vigil at the site of a proposed Vodafone mast in Stoke since last Monday.

They are refusing to budge until the development on the corner of Masterman Road and Keppel Place is scrapped.

The residents spent the weekend maintaining a watchful eye on the spot, some waking up in the early hours in case contractors arrived in the dark.
