Politics in America today is a pyramid built from promises. Individuals get elected to powerful positions by making promises. Every kind of benefit the politician has to offer goes on sale during an election. All kinds of promises are made targeting certain groups of people in an attempt to buy their favor at the ballot box. The bigger the promises, the more votes are generated and success depends on getting the votes. Everyone that wishes to join the ranks of the rich and powerful is promising either to do something or not to do something. Who can you believe? (written 02/04; posted 06/24/07)
