E-News - Feb 13, 2006
(excerpt)
#1- A News Blog for Boycott Bush
We are very glad to announce you the creation of a news blog at http://www.boycottbush.org/news_en.php. Thanks to our new volunteer Paul Borgers in the team of the International Secretariat of the campaign, in Ghent, Belgium, you will be able to inform yourself about the last features concerning the USA foreign policy and our demands everyday. For the moment it is only available in English and in Dutch. We also plan to restart our Boycott Bush E-News with a selection of the news of the blog twice each month. Your reactions and news are welcome: you can send them directly to paul@motherearth.org.
#2- Boycott of the US dollar
We also would like to announce that a text of reflection about the boycott of the US dollar has been published on the site. It has been written by Rohini Hensman and Marinella Correggia, contact person for the campaign in Italy: http://www.boycottbush.org/dollar_en.php
#3- Update of text about US and nuclear weapons
The U.S. is the biggest obstacle for nuclear disarmament. Check how the U.S. voted in the UN General Assembly last December 2005. On 12 disarmament resolutions they voted 11 times "no" and abstained once. All resolutions were adopted by a majority of states. Check the table with the votes of the 65 members of UN Conference on Disarmament http://www.boycottbush.org/demands-nukes_en.php This page about US and nuclear weapons has been recently updated by David Heller, For Mother Earth anti-nuclear campaigner http://www.boycottbush.org/demands-nukes_en.php and the one about the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty has been also updated and will be very soon posted on the site.
#4- Agenda 2006: coming events and actions
An agenda for 2006 has been created to display a list of events and actions where boycott campaigners and/or boycott activists have a chance to meet, discuss and act together in flesh and bones. Any suggestions of event or action (rather international or big and national but local initiatives give us also hope and energy to continue this campaign) to add to this list is welcome. Next action is the 3d anniversary of the war and occupation of Iraq , March 18-20. Let us know what are your plans! http://www.boycottbush.org/agenda-060319_en.php
#5- Translations of the site in 5 languages
Then, we would like to give a very big thank to all the persons making this campaign possible, particularly all the volunteers who are translating the site in 5 different languages (Arabic, Dutch, French, Portuguese and Spanish). New translators are always welcome and can find the contacts of the translation coordinators here: http://www.boycottbush.org/volunteer_en.php
Sincerely,
As consumers we do not want our money to be used to fuel wars, environmental destruction and human-rights violations. http://www.boycottbush.org
