Die Umweltorganisation Rettet den Regenwald (RdR) hat Pläne von RWE npower scharf kritisiert, ein Kraftwerk im britischen Kent künftig mit Palmöl zu betreiben. Dadurch werde die Klimakatastrophe forciert, so Verbandsvorsitzende Reinhard Behrend. "Solche Projekte steigern die Nachfrage nach Palmöl. Als Folge werden in Südostasien weitere Regenwälder zerstört, um Platz für neue Plantagen zu schaffen." Palmöl werde vor allem im Tieflandregenwald von Indonesien und Malaysia angebaut. Die dortigen Torfwälder seien gigantische Kohlendioxid-Speicher. Regelmäßig würden riesige Waldflächen abgefackelt, um Platz für neue Palmöl-Plantagen zu schaffen. Durch die Waldbrände allein in Indonesien würden in manchen Jahren mehr als eine Milliarde Tonnen Kohlendioxid frei gesetzt, etwa 15 Prozent der weltweit von Menschen verursachten Emissionen mit Kohlendioxid.

Beginning on October 9th and continuing through the end of the year, the world will be living beyond its ecological means. Ecological Footprint accounting shows that, as of October 9th, humanity has already consumed the total amount of new resources nature will produce this year.

"Humanity is living off its ecological credit card and can only do this by liquidating the planet's ecological assets," said Dr. Mathis Wackernagel, Executive Director of Global Footprint Network, "While this can be done for a short while, overshoot ultimately leads to the depletion of resources, such as the forests, oceans and agricultural land upon which our economy depends."


Each year Global Footprint Network calculates humanity's Ecological Footprint, its demand on cropland, pasture, forests and fisheries, and compares it with global biocapacity, the ability of these ecosystems to generate resources and absorb wastes. Ecological Footprint accounting can be used to determine the exact date we, as a global community, begin running our annual ecological deficit. Designated "Overshoot Day," this year demand begins outstripping supply on October 9.

Overshoot has been called 'the biggest issue you've never heard of.' Yet despite its lack of publicity, its causes and effects are as simple as they are significant.

As humanity's consumption of resources increases, Overshoot Day creeps earlier on the calendar. Humanity's first Overshoot Day was December 19, 1987. By 1995 it had jumped back a month to 21 November. Today, with Overshoot Day on October 9, humanity's Ecological Footprint is almost thirty per cent larger than the planet's biocapacity this year. In other words, it now takes more than one year and three months for the Earth to regenerate what we use in a single year.

Neue fossile Großkraftwerke: Stromwirtschaft baut Kohle-, Erdgas- und Müllkraftwerke (09.10.06)

Trotz des Klimawandels baut die Stromwirtschaft in Deutschland vornehmlich fossile Großkraftwerke. Nach Angaben des Verbandes der Elektrizitätswirtschaft (VDEW) nahm die Branche zwischen 2001 und Mitte 2006 rund 40 Kraftwerke mit einer Leistung von zusammen 5.700 Megawatt (MW) in Betrieb. Der Verband erfasste hierbei Anlagen ab 20 Megawatt Leistung. Das Investitionsvolumen habe rund 5,5 Milliarden Euro betragen. Weitere 53 konventionelle Kraftwerke mit zusammen 31.400 MW Leistung sind nach Angaben des Stromwirtschaftsverbandes in Deutschland in Bau oder in Planung.

Diese stellten das "öffentlich sehr interessante Thema" Atomenergie deshalb in den Mittelpunkt, damit sie sich um andere Bereiche wie steigende Strompreise und den Bau effizienter Kraft-Wärmekopplungs-Kraftwerke "herumdrücken" könnten, sagte Gabriel am Montag im ZDF-Morgenmagazin. Er warf den Versorgern in diesem Zusammenhang vor, mit diesem Trick von getroffenen Selbstverpflichtungen abzulenken.

It not only threatens our own peace and security by exacerbating violence and hatred in the Middle East, it has wrecked havoc with our federal budget, our military readiness for real crises, and everything else. But as much as the Bush administration is wishing people were talking about something else besides the widespread coverup of a Republican sex scandal, the one thing they DON'T want us to focus on is their bull-headed failure in Iraq.

But the candidates on the Peace Team are not about to be distracted from their core message, that they are standing together calling for our troops in Iraq to START coming home now. And the best way to make that happen as fast as possible is to keep reminding our fellow constituents that the road to Iraq was paved with nothing but the most willful lies. And that's exactly what the Peace Team's new Lie/Die spots do. They confront the Bush administration and their rubber stampers out on each and every one of these lies.

Given that Bush is incapable of making any good policy decisions, beholden only to selfish special corporate interests, most of their time is spent trying to cover up their roles in one fiasco after another and their consequences. They fire anyone who dares to disclose an unfavorable report, and suppress the release of any information they can't browbeat the responsible agency into editing into happy talk. But the sheer monumental weight of their lies about what is really going on in Iraq is now breaking through even the monolithic wall of right wing cable news propaganda.

So what we need to do is keep on pushing to get the truth out, to get more and more of the Peace Team Lie/Die TV spots on the air between now and the election, so every citizen in every district knows that there are candidates who will stand up to the lies of the Bush administration. Help spread the word that there are candidates who will fight for the policy change that will bring us real peace and security, not mounting casualties and debt fighting the wrong war in the wrong place.

The war in Iraq was wrong to start, it is wrong to continue, and it can never be made right, no matter now many of our sons and daughters Bush sacrifices to cover up his own mendacity. There isn't a district in the country where the majority of our friends and neighbors are happy with the way they have been lies to and betrayed by the president and his locksteppers in Congress. And they WILL vote for candidates who stand up and call them out on their lies without backing down, if only we can get the word out with these Lie/Die spots.

A journalist shot to death in an apparent contract killing was about to publish a story about torture and abductions in Chechnya when she was slain. Anna Politkovskaya, famed for her unsparing coverage of abuses against civilians in Chechnya in the outspoken newspaper Novaya Gazeta, was found dead Saturday in the elevator of her Moscow apartment building.

A leading Russian journalist has been murdered in Moscow. The body of Anna Politkovskaya was found at her apartment block in the capital. Reports say a pistol and four spent rounds were found in the lift alongside her. A mother of two children, she was a fearless and outspoken critic of the war in Chechnya and alleged human rights abuses committed there, despite intense government pressure on her to leave the subject alone.

She was under constant scrutiny from politicians and the security forces, had been arrested in the past, and complained of being threatened. In the 2002 siege of a Moscow theatre she negotiated with the Chechen rebels who took hundreds of hostages.

She was unable to report on the Beslan school siege two years later when she fell ill with food poisoning after drinking a cup of tea on a plane taking her there. She was rushed to hospital. That same year the US editor of Forbes magazine in Russia, reportedly investigating the theft of money destined to rebuild Chechnya, was murdered in a similar way.

On November 6th governments from all over the world will be meeting in Nairobi for the year's most important United Nations climate change talks. To date international policy discussions have largely ignored the destruction and burning of Southeast Asia’s rainforest peatlands. These wet, swampy rainforests are drained to be cleared for agricultural plantations, and as they dry their peat filled soils are highly susceptible to long burning, carbon and methane rich fires. Peatland fires have for years been one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions - accounting for the equivalent of some 15% of all global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels. Hundreds of peat and forest fires are once again burning across Borneo, Sumatra and Java. Unless the international community acts quickly, Southeast Asia’s emissions of carbon and methane from burning peatlands alone may lead to dangerous climate change including massive sea level rises and mass extinctions. Expansion of oil palm plantations, illegal logging and timber plantations have been identified as the main drivers of the destruction.

Untersuchungen belegen, dass elektromagnetische Felder Auswirkungen auf Zellstrukturen haben und biologische Effekte auslösen; Kleinkinder sind davon besonders betroffen. Somit ist nicht jeder Standort ist für die Errichtung starker Mobilfunkantennen geeignet. Die Landeselternvertretung Grundschulen fordert deshalb, in der näheren Umgebung von Grundschulen und Kindergärten eine Tabuzone einzurichten. Die Landeselternvertretung (LEV) Grundschulen im Saarland fordert eine 2 Kilometer große Sicherheitszone zwischen Mobilfunkantennen und Grundschulen bzw. Kindergärten

Hierzu gibt es eine Pressemeldung. Zudem hat die LEV die zuständigen Landtagsausschüsse, die Fraktionsvorsitzenden und die verantwortlichen Ressortminister (Umwelt, Gesundheit, Familien) angeschrieben. Die Familienministerin hat unser Schreiben nun dem Wirtschaftsminister weitergegeben. Nach über einem Monat hat sich seitens der Landesregierung nichts getan, während die Vorsitzenden der verantwortlichen Landtagsausschüsse (Gesundheit und Umwelt) sich schriftlich äußerten, und die Fraktionen von SPD und Grünen Bereitschaft signalisierten, uns zu unterstützen blieb eine Antwort der FDP aus. Der CDU-Fraktionsvorsitzende versucht das politische Handling in Richtung Bundesregierung abzuschieben. Da sich die Landesregierung bisher nicht zu der Sache äußerte, ging heute ein Brief von mir an Ministerpräsident Peter Müller. Sollte sich danach noch nichts tun, starten die Eltern eine Kampagne.

hier eine Stellungnahme zu Ihrer Aktion:

"Was nutzt eine Sicherheitszone von 2 km oder die Selbstverpflichtung der Industrie zu einem Mindestabstand von 200 Metern, wenn in den Schulen für die Computer und das Internet keine Kabel verlegt werden (hohe Installationskosten) sondern die Übertragung per W-LAN erfolgt. Mir W-LAN ist der Sender direkt in der Schule. Das ist konsequenterweise zuerst zu beanstanden.

Hallo Herr Bartz,

Sie haben sicherlich recht. Man kann aber nicht sofort die ganze Munition verschießen. Im Bereich Mobilfunk wurde die ganze Zeit geschludert. Jeder sah die neue Technik und die Gefahren wurden bewusst oder unbewusst unter den Teppich gekehrt. Auch mir war die Problematik nicht so ganz klar. Ärgerlich ist nur, wenn man Antennen den Leuten vor die Tür stellt ohne sie über die gefahren zu informieren. Ich unterstelle einmal das dies den Netzbetreibern bekannt ist. Dann kommen noch Projekte, bei denen die Landesregierung zusammen mit der Telecom und der Wirtschaft glänzt. ("Schulen ans Netz" - Netzanschluss stellt die Telecom, PCs sponsert der Mittelstand und der Kultusminister fördert das Ganze) Kein Schulförderverein und kein Elternteil hätte damals den Finger gehoben.

Nun steht die Erweiterung des UTMS-Netzes an. Neue Sendemasten sollen ans Netz. Hier steht bei uns im Vordergrund, das Aufstellen in der Nähe von Schulen und KiGas zu verhindern. Im übrigen zählt: Die Antennen strahlen immer - die Handys und die Übertragung per W-LAN geschieht nur, wenn die Geräte in Betrieb sind.

Das in den Schulen überwiegend W-Lan Betrieb läuft sei außerdem auch mal dahin gestellt. Der überwiegende Teil der PCs in den Grundschulen sind ausrangierte Rechner aus Saar-Betrieben, die letztendlich mit den vorhandenen und ebenfalls von den Unternehmen mitgelieferten Netzwerken mit Kabel in Betrieb sind.

Trotzdem, das ist mir klar, müssen wir uns auch der Problematik W-LAN annehmen.

The cut-and-run phrase is an effective political weapon. It's pithy and plays on the public perception that Democrats are weak on issues of national security. The Democrats also can't agree about what to do in Iraq, so they can't fight back effectively. It is also a very dumb phrase. It diminishes the debate by suggesting all options are crystal clear. It poisons the dialogue by angering those reasonable Democrats in Congress who are searching for a middle ground and by freezing those Republicans who want to offer constructive criticism but can't for fear they'll be accused of wanting to cut and run. As one Republican congressman put it recently: 'Reality has been suspended for a moment. Republicans cannot speak out publicly on this issue right now'...

One doesn't keep investing in a losing stock, and this particular stock is plummeting so fast and so far that we can no longer afford to hold it. The best option, the only option, is to cut our losses and stanch the bleeding. Comme les journaux, les médecins et les responsables officiels ne peuvent /veulent pas informer, les gens deviennent créatifs! L'information passera, le gens se réveilleront et prendront connaissance de ce nouveau scandale. Qu'on fasse une erreur au début je peux encore le comprendre, mais que l'on continue à vouloir cacher le danger qu'apporte cette technologie (p.ex. Publication 8 ans plus tard de résultats de recherche comme Schwarzenburg) est impardonnable dans mes yeux d'électrosensible qui ne dors bientôt plus du tout dans ce bain d'ondes EM artificielles et trouve ainsi le temps à s'informer !

Que ceux qui se sentent concernés rassemblent leur courage! Chaque jour perdu peut coûter des vies surtout avec le Wifi qui est insupportable pour un électrosensible et qui n'est même pas réglementé!

D'un côté le militaire américain utilise des armes à micro-ondes pour intervenir dans l'activité cérébrale de l'ennemi et de l'autre côté on nous veut faire coire que les micro-ondes pulsées "à l?œuvre des tél. portable ne sont pas dangereuses! La télévision a déjà bien fait son travail!

Auf Einladung der Bundeskanzlerin findet heute der zweite Energiegipfel statt. Dazu erklärt der stellvertretende Parteivorsitzende Wolfgang Methling:

Es ist zu befürchten, dass die zentrale Frage der Bürgerinnen und Bürger erneut verdrängt wird: Wie kann in Zukunft eine preiswerte, bezahlbare Energieversorgung für alle, also auch für Arbeitslose und Geringverdienende, gesichert werden? Die Steigerung der Energieeffizienz, die Senkung des Energieverbrauchs und eine strikte Ausrichtung auf erneuerbare Energien müssen in den Mittelpunkt der Energiepolitik gestellt werden. Nur eine vollständige Energiewende in dezentralen Strukturen, wie sie die Linkspartei. PDS fordert, wird unsere Energieprobleme lösen. Das setzt eine Steigerung des Anteils erneuerbarer Energien auf deutlich über 50 Prozent in den kommenden 30 Jahren voraus. Erneuerbare Energien sind eine heimische Energiebasis, die keinen "Kampf um Rohstoffe" auslösen und zur Minderung des Klimawandels beitragen. Erforderlich ist eine Reduzierung der Nutzung fossiler Ressourcen für die Energiegewinnung auch, um sie länger stofflich in der chemischen Industrie nutzen zu können. Eine andere, nachhaltige Energie- und Energiepreispolitik ist mit den vier marktbeherrschenden Energiekonzernen nicht zu machen. Das zeigt unter anderem ihr beharrliches Drängen, eine Wiederkehr der Atomkraft herbeizuzwingen. Die Linkspartei.PDS lehnt das strikt ab. Selbst nach dem vereinbarten Atomkonsens der Vorgängerregierung würde das letzte deutsche Atomkraftwerk erst 2021 abgeschaltet werden. Die Verlängerung der Laufzeiten wäre ein Weg zurück in die Vergangenheit. Eine nachhaltige Energiepolitik im Interesse der Mehrheit der Bürgerinnen und Bürger erfordert daher auch eine gezielte Beschränkung der Macht der "Großen Vier". Wenn dieses wichtige Signal vom Energiegipfel heute nicht ausgesandt wird, hat er das Thema verfehlt.

Im September 2006 bekam ich verschiedene Mails mit der Aufforderung oder Bitte zu diesem Artikel meine Meinung oder Stellungnahme abzugeben.

Zu der erneut von der Union geforderten Verschärfung von Hartz IV erklärt die stellvertretende Parteivorsitzende Katja Kipping:

CDU und CSU versuchen ihre Unfähigkeit zur Lösung der arbeitsmarkpolitischen Probleme einmal mehr auf die Langzeitarbeitlosen abzuwälzen. Das machen die jüngsten Forderungen nach einer Verschärfung von Hartz IV deutlich. Damit entfernt sich die Union ein weiteres Mal von der Ursprungsidee des Förderns und Forderns. Sie unterstellt allen Langzeitarbeitslosen Arbeitsunwilligkeit und versucht das durch die Verfassung garantierte Sozialstaatsgebot weiter auszuhebeln und den Betroffenen das Existenzminimum streitig zu machen. Dabei entspricht der derzeitige Regelsatz des Arbeitslosengeldes II dem Existenzminimum, wie durch die Einkommens- und Verbrauchsstichprobe vom Statistischen Bundesamt bestätigt worden ist. Damit übt sich die Union einmal mehr im Beleidigen und Beklauen der sozial Benachteiligten. Dabei ist sie mitverantwortlich für die über vier Millionen Arbeitslosen und die fehlenden offenen Stellen. Wer darüber hinaus noch die Streichung des Urlaubsanspruchs fordert, ist von der Forderung nach elektronischer Fußfessel für Hartz-IV-Empfänger nicht weit entfernt. Die Linkspartei bleibt bei ihrer Forderung nach einem öffentlich geförderten Beschäftigungssektor, um Arbeitslosen und Hartz-IV-Empfängern eine neue Chance zu geben.

Don’t take my word for it, ask the Wireless company to show you research documents that proof “Beyond Doubt” the harmless of the Microwave Radiation emitted by their equipment.

And remember, just because it does not suit our politicians to accept the existing evidence of harm to humans (for short term monetary reasons) does not mean that the evidence does not exist. The evidence of harm is Abundant!!

The Wireless Industry KNOW it Harms, but they are in it for Profit, and they buy politicians, they buy you, and they have no concern whatsoever for the victims of this faulty technology. (Many of whom will suffer irretrievable health consequences.)

And we are still only talking short term effects.

But by the time the long term effects (cancer) will be established the same politicians will no longer be in office, and so cannot be held liable.

So the only people, we, the children, parents, populations will have to blame will be YOU, who allow these installations to go ahead regardless, and more often than not do not even bother to investigate if there is a danger of harm!

I am a trustee for the EM Radiation Research Trust in the UK. I would like to urge you to think again, before you make your decision please read the enclosed information about an Orange mast which was suspended after 8 children developed cancer near a phone mast in Paris. I’ve enclosed a whole list of cancer cluster details in the vicinity of phone masts, pay special attention to the recent news article about a cluster of children who developed leukaemia near a mast in a nursery school in Southport. I’m sure you would not want your school to be featured with this type of headline, I ask you, is it worth the risk?

Schools and home owners are often placed in a difficult position; if they go public with regards to the short term exposure symptoms such as radiation sickness problems, they either devalue their homes or frighten parents from sending their children to their school.

We faced this difficult decision when we discovered the cancer cluster where I live in the tiny hamlet of Wishaw, we decided to face the truth and accept the consequences as health is more important than money and people need to know about the risks and research that is available.

Read the following paragraph by Dr Robert O. Becker, M.D. he was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize for his research into EMF’s.

“I have no doubt in my mind that at the present time, the greatest polluting element in the earth’s environment is the proliferation of electromagnetic fields. I consider that to be far greater on a global scale, than warming, and the increase in chemical elements in the environment.’’

I have no doubt in my mind either that I am a victim to long term exposure to radiation from a phone mast. Almost five years ago I developed breast cancer at the age of 38 with no history of breast cancer in my family and living a healthy life style.

In a recent report on 21/9/2006 the head of cancer registry in Berlin, Roland Stabenow informed the residents of Steinbach-Hallenberg in a recent conference, that there is an increase of 7 fold in breast cancer in their area (an area with cellular antennas). He emphasized that this is not a proof that the increase is linked to the antennas. He also talked about the causes of breast cancer. The attention to the place was drawn after a map was prepared by the residents and the cancer cases are near the antennas.

I am almost scared to say that I am now almost five years clear of this terrible disease and it had an enormous impact on my life and the lives of my family. It has been a long hard battle not only against breast cancer, but also against the insensitive siting of the T-Mobile phone mast which was 100 metres from my home. I now live in a cancer cluster which is one of many we have since discovered around phone masts after long term exposure. I have continued to campaign 24/7 and am now at the highest level. I am now a member of the EMF Discussion Group which is chaired by Sir William Stewart, Chairman for the Health Protection Agency for the UK; please see enclosed details which include a link to minutes of our first meeting in March.

Our next meeting is on 16th October, 2006 at the Health Protection Agency in London. I have received an invitation to give a presentation to the group on mobile phone masts and health concerns. We are also discussing EMFs and the effects on melatonin and breast cancer. There have been concerns that exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) might increase the risk of breast cancer.

There is evidence in abundance in support of the hypothesis that EMFs affects melatonin levels and the risk of breast cancer. There is a desperate need for INDEPENDENT funding for scientists to carry out this important work.

People can take measures to help avoid EMFs by using mobile phones for emergency calls only. Stop using DECT phones, replace them with a fixed land line phones and also avoid wireless communication until a safer technology becomes available. But what do you do if there is a mast next to your home or wireless communication in your school or work place, how do you keep away from that?

If only I'd known about the research in connection with EMF's, I might have realised that it is not a good idea to live 100 metres from a 22.5 metre phone mast. Out of our tiny hamlet in Wishaw four other ladies developed breast cancer at the same time out of the 18 houses around surrounding the mast and one man died of motor neurone disease. I had been living next to the mast for over seven years before I was diagnosed with breast cancer. If only I had been told about the dangers, I might have realised that the years of suffering with sleep problems, headaches, vertigo, skin rashes, heart palpitations and low white blood cells had all been connected to radiation from the phone mast. This is a condition known as electro-sensitivity (EHS) I now realise that I am electro-sensitive mainly to microwave frequencies from phone masts and DECT phones.

I have since campaigned constantly visiting the UK Parliament and have met many MPs, including Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt and Solicitor General Mike O'Brien. Prime Minister Tony Blair has refused to meet with me despite many requests from a number of MPs. He was quoted in the Birmingham Evening Mail as saying "he was more concerned about the damages to business and industry", could this have anything to do with the £22.5 billion pounds they took selling the licences to the phone industry? I have given evidence at many Inquires in the UK and have visited the European Parliament in Brussels with Professor Olle Johansson and Dr Gerd Oberfeld.

A UK Ex-Government Military Scientist Barrie Trower, trained spies in microwave warfare and has given out the following statement:

"This Government, some of the Government Scientists and this Industry will be responsible for more deaths in peace time than any terrorist group in the world ever!"
