GMO Contamination in Mexico's Cradle of Corn
Seven years after biologists David Quist and Ignacio Chapela were excoriated for their study finding transgenes had contaminated traditional corn grown in the remote regions of Oaxaca where the cereal was first cultivated, their results have been largely confirmed by a new study that will appear in the next issue of Molecular Ecology. The scientists who conducted the most recent study worry that corn's days as a natural foodstuff may be numbered.
