Today’s media barons control the world as opinion makers. Like in Orwell’s world, they’re our national thought control police gatekeepers sanitizing news so only the cleansed residue portion gets through with everything people want most left out — the full truth all the time. They manipulate our minds and beliefs, program our thoughts, divert our attention, and effectively destroy the free marketplace of ideas essential to a healthy democracy they won’t tolerate. None more ruthlessly than Murdoch and the infoentertainment empire he controls. Its flagship US operation is Fox News that Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) calls ‘the most biased name in news …. with its extraordinary right-wing tilt.’ In response, Murdoch defiantly ‘challenge(s) anybody to show me an example of bias in Fox News Channel’ because in his world the entire political spectrum begins and ends with his views.
