Growing numbers of US forces in Baghdad are being killed or injured in attacks by Shi’ite militias with links to Iran. The US says this is because of a ’surge’ in Iranian assistance aimed at ousting the Americans from Iraq, despite there being no new evidence to back up the claim. It could simply be that the US soldiers are dying because they have significantly stepped up operations against Shi’ites in the capital...
