Barack Obama (D) of Illinois announced he is officially considering possibly running for president in an election almost two years away. It wasn’t exactly a shocking development, but it made big headlines. Last Tuesday, the day Senator Obama posted the video on his website announcing that he had created an exploratory committee — his intention to consider his intentions — cable news spent much of the day discussing the announcement. In fact, there was so much coverage of the senator’s statement that between Tuesday and Sunday last week the word ‘Obama’ got 14,800 hits on a search of Google News. That was more than 10 times as many hits received over the same period for the terms ‘Iraq’ and ‘34,452′ — the UN’s estimate last week of the number of Iraqi civilian deaths since the war there began...

A PROPOSAL for a 50-foot mobile phone mast near a church on Wellington's Blackdown Trading Estate has been ditched.

Plans for the 'base station' with mast and antennae at the back of the King's Church centre were submitted to Taunton Deane Council by planning consultants White Young Green, on behalf of telecommunication giants 3G, and approved in principle by Wellington Town Council.

But by the time the application reached Wellington town councillors, plans to push ahead with the scheme had been ditched and the church pulled out after 3G failed to finalist a contract.

Wellington town and county councillor Andrew Govier, told the Gazette: "The application was agreed in principle by the town council, providing it was moved but the last I knew was that the phone company had pulled out of the agreement.

"The town council was happy with what was said but there was all sorts of confusion."

Villagers are pleading with a mobile phone company to share an existing mast - rather than erect a new one near their homes and a school in the area.

Angry residents at Areley Kings, near Stourport, believe it would be possible for 02 to use an existing mast instead of erecting a 45ft high monopole on a verge in Pearl Lane.

They have already organised a protest meeting at the village hall at 8pm tonight to discuss the issue.

But today Chris Ashmore, one of the villagers, said: “There is a Vodafone mast already erected on Tudor Grange further down.

Any economic problems are a) due to things that occurred before his watch or outside of his control, b) the result of not enough tax cutting or c) not really happening. Any positive trends are evidence that the tax cuts are working. Tuesday night’s speech will surely contain a couple of paragraphs touting recent trends in job growth, unemployment and even real wages, which finally started to climb over the last few quarters. You’d be hard-pressed to find an economist without a rightward agenda who would link those outcomes to the Bush tax cuts, but in Bush’s defense, you’d be even more hard-pressed to find a president who doesn’t connect such dots on their watch...

Auf dem so genannten Europatag der deutschen Wirtschaft warf sie damit Brüssel den Fehdehandschuh hin.

Neueste Presseinformationen deuten darauf hin, dass Umweltkommissar Dimas in Brüssel gegen die Autoindustrie das Ziel verteidigen kann, den CO2-Ausstoß von Neuwagen auf 120 g/km in 2012 zu senken. Diesen Fortschritt konnte Verheugen demnach nicht verhindern. Allerdings soll die Beimischung von Pflanzenkraftstoffen eingerechnet werden können, wodurch die Pflicht zur Reduktion des Spritverbrauchs verringert würde. Doch noch ist nichts beschlossen und wir müssen jetzt weiter Druck machen.

Weit über 12.000 Menschen haben innerhalb der letzten 5 Tagen mit E-Mails an Merkel, Glos und Verheugen gegen Spritfresser und die Lobbymacht der Autoindustrie protestiert. Wir sind überwältigt: Noch nie haben sich so viele Menschen in so kurzer Zeit an einer Campact-Kampagne beteiligt. Dies war ein wichtiges Zeichen gegen die Lobbymacht der Autoindustrie und für mehr Klimaschutz!

Entscheidung mit Licht und Schatten

Mit der gestrigen Entscheidung will die EU-Kommission die Autoindustrie jetzt mit einer gesetzlichen Regelung zwingen, den CO2-Ausstoß von Neuwagen zu senken. Dies wollte die Autoindustrie verhindern – ein großer Erfolg für uns.

Die Kommission verlangt von der Autoindustrie, den Spritverbrauch bis 2012 auf 130g/km CO2-Ausstoß zu verringern. Weitere 10 Gramm sollen durch ein Set von Maßnahmen wie Leichtlaufreifen und sparsame Klimaanlagen eingespart werden. Teil dieses Sets sind aber leider auch Pflanzenkraftstoffe. Der Konflikt, ob und wie viel Pflanzenkraftstoffe anstelle der Spriteinsparung angerechnet werden können, steht also noch bevor.

In den nächsten Monaten wird es darum gehen, ob die gestrige Einigung auch im EU-Ministerrat und Parlament Bestand hat und wie die Reduktionsziele konkret und sicher erreicht werden. Wir müssen uns auf eine lange Auseinandersetzung einstellen und setzen dabei auf Ihre Unterstützung.

Umweltverbände kritisieren abgeschwächte CO2-Grenzwerte für Pkw in Europa

Der Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland (BUND) lehnt das am Mittwoch von der EU-Kommission in Brüssel vorgestellte Konzept zur Minderung der Klimagase von Pkw strikt ab. Mit der Einberechnung unverbindlicher so genannter "weicher Maßnahmen" werde der Autoindustrie eine Hintertür geöffnet, durch die sie sich aus ihrer Selbstverpflichtung zum Klimaschutz davonschleichen könne. Change is in the air.

President Bush said the words "climate change" tonight, marking the first time that he has mentioned this urgent environmental threat in a State of the Union speech.

Obviously we need more - and there is more.

His prescription for action – calling on America to produce upwards of 35 billion gallons of biofuels by 2017 and to improve auto fuel efficiency – is significant.

If channeled in the right directions, it would result in nearly a five-fold increase in biofuel production, help spur capital investments in low carbon fuels and reduce America's gasoline consumption.

That would be a good start.

However, President Bush is missing a huge opportunity to support an economy-wide national cap on America's global warming pollution. Without a cap, his proposal falls well short of comprehensive and effective global warming action.

As this list of recent events makes clear, there has never been more energy behind our global warming campaign. Taken together, these events represent unprecedented momentum in our fight for meaningful global warming action:

* Yesterday, Environmental Defense joined 10 major U.S. businesses and 3 other environmental groups to urge swift national action to cut America's global warming pollution;

* As many as 7 global warming bills have been or are expected to be introduced in the Senate in the coming weeks;

* Congressional Committee and Subcommittee Chairs in both the House and Senate are scheduling dozens of hearings on global warming solutions in the next several weeks;

* House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced last week that she is creating a special select committee on global warming solutions;

* The House of Representatives voted last week to reallocate energy subsidies from oil and natural gas industries to invest in renewable energy technologies;

* California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a low carbon fuel standard to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 10% in all fuels sold in California by 2020;

* All leading major party presidential candidates are on record supporting strong national global warming action;

* According to news accounts, the upcoming report from the International Panel on Climate Change is expected to use the strongest language yet linking global warming pollution to rising temperatures;

* At least 8 governors have mentioned global warming in their State of the States, including Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC), who called for a state level climate change stakeholders' conference.

These developments suggest that the people, much of the business community and many political leaders are way ahead the President on global warming. We need to capitalize on this progress, and build on this momentum to make 2007 the year when we finally turn the corner.

We must keep up constant support for an economy-wide cap on global warming pollution. And with your continued support, we will.

Einstein in 1945 warned us that the nuclear device is not a war weapon because, unlike a missile or bullet, its destructive power is "indiscriminate." In short, it is a killer of society itself, the very physical and temporal environment of human life. Only a world government, he concluded, could outlaw it and save humanity. Einstein also reminded us that "Imagination is more important than intelligence."

On November 22, 1948, 3 years after the end of WWII, we World Citizens interrupted a United Nations' General Assembly session in Paris "in the name of the people not represented here." We told the delegates "the sovereign states you represent divide us and lead us to the abyss of total war." And that "our common need for world law and order can no longer be disregarded." If the UN failed us in this critical task, we said, "Stand aside, for a People's World Assembly, will arise from our own ranks to create such a government."

History is replete with the concept of a governed world and world citizenship. But today we live in the first age when humanity itself is threatened.

What do we mean by "humanity"? Is it a conscious being? Can it think? Does it feel?

Would you or I die for it as national soldiers willingly die for their "nation" and as national presidents and supreme court judges pledge to defend their national constitutions "against all enemies, foreign and domestic"?

Can humanity, by itself, appeal to its constituent parts. . .us, as individuals, for its survival?

Or must each one of us, conscious of our dynamic relationship to it, speak AND act for humanity in our waking life? Finally are not we as individuals expendable whereas humanity obviously is not?

So the ultimate question comes down to: Is humanity our "collective human consciousness?"

Indeed, if consciousness is already global, then simply being human is to be global from birth. An actual "citizen of the world."

Humanity then must be a conscious global "government"! The so- called "brains" of Gaia, the living Earth to which we, as humans, already owe our primal allegiance.

Indeed Einstein's very last words were: "We appeal as human beings to human beings; Remember your humanity, and forget the rest."

Horace Mann, the great educator asked: "What have you done for humanity today?"

Abolitionist Charles Sumner stated that "The age of chivalry has gone; the age of humanity has come."

Transcendentalist Theodore Parker went further: "Humanity is the Son of God."

While Teilhard de Chardin wrote that "The 'noosphere,' was "a global net of self-awareness, instantaneous feedback, and planetary communication..."

And Nataraja Guru, in his epic Memorandum on World Government claimed : "Humanity is one."

That's the mental quantum leap and activist command for 2007! That in fact--and this is the crucial point--humanity is already a biological and conceptual "World Government."

Primal human allegiance to a conscious humanity then is the absolute wisdom criterion for human survival. Not "democracy" or "success" in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, the "Middle East" or whatever aggression and militarism by any nation-state anywhere on the planet.

But "Success" by, for and of the people of the world for whom planet Earth is home.

Faithful to our 1948 pledge to the UN General Assembly, and the world's people, as citizenship and government are corollaries, -- Emery Reves claimed in 1945: "There is no first step to world government; world government is the first step."(1) --we World Citizens declared our global government in 1953 which has been operating for over half a century. The World Government of World Citizens then is the institutional down-to-earth verification of humanity's "world government."(2)

Der Atomphysiker Johannes Koppe plante ab den 1960er Jahren die ersten Atomkraftwerke in Norddeutschland. Der wortgewandte Wissenschaftler galt als der Chefideologe der deutschen Atomindustrie und er war einer der kämpferischsten Gegner der Anti-AKW-Gruppen: Sein Buch "66 Fragen, 66 Antworten zur Kernenergie" galt als Bibel der Kernkraftindustrie.

Koppe glaubte felsenfest an die absolute Sicherheit der Atomtechnik. Zweifler hielt er für unseriös oder unkundig oder beides.

1979 verschwand Johannes Koppe plötzlich von der Bildfläche. Wochen später tauchte er in der DDR wieder auf und entpuppte sich als Top-Agent der HVA, der Ostberlin mit allen wichtigen Dokumenten und Plänen der westdeutschen Atomindustrie versorgt hatte.

In der DDR setzte Koppe sein atomares Wirken fort. Im AKW Greifswald/Lubmin war er erneut mit Planungsaufgaben beschäftigt. Bis 1990- da wurden seine Reaktoren aus Sicherheitsgründen stillgelegt.

Koppes Credo: trotz Harrisburg und Tschernobyl sei die Atomkraft absolut sicher. Wer anderes sage, habe keine Ahnung.

Damit sieht die Opposition den früheren Kanzleramtschef Frank-Walter Steinmeier (SPD) noch stärker unter Druck und verlangte eine rasche Aussage des Außenministers vor dem BND-Untersuchungsausschuss des Bundestages. "Bürgerwelle"-Vorsitzender Zwerenz: Schädigung der Volksgesundheit von Politik in Kauf genommen

Wald/Alz. Mit umfangreichem Zahlenmaterial und vielen Fakten hat Siegfried Zwerenz, Vorsitzender des Vereins "Bürgerwelle", die kritische Seite des Mobilfunks beleuchtet. Über 100 Zuhörer im Saal des Gasthofes "Zum Bräu" in Wald/Alz wurden dabei in ihren Sorgen und Ängsten bestätigt. Die Initiatoren des Abends wollen mit ihren Aktionen weitere Mobilfunkanlagen in ihrer Gemeinde verhindern.

Garching habe bereits fünf Mobilfunksender, damit sei die Versorgung gewährleistet. Deswegen sei man gegen die Aufstellung zusätzlicher UMTSSender, hieß es auf einer vorbereiteten Unterschriftenliste.

Referent Zwerenz informierte zunächst darüber, dass der Verein "Bürgerwelle" als Dachverband der Initiativen zum Schutz vor Elektrosmog 1997 gegründet worden war. Damals hatte man erkannt, dass die Inbetriebnahme von Sendeanlagen immer mehr gesundheitliche Probleme bei Tier und vor allem beim Menschen auslöse. "Mobilfunk ist von Seiten der Politik und Industrie gewollt, Argumente dagegen werden unter den Tisch gekehrt, eine regelrechte Manipulationskette liegt hierbei vor", stellte Zwerenz fest.

Er fügte an, dass in der Öffentlichkeit eine einseitige Information durch die Mobilfunkbetreiber, aber auch durch die Strahlenschutzbehörden und die Politik vorherrsche. "Die Interessensverflechtungen sind dabei kaum zu glauben."

Um Menschen vor Gefahren elektromagnetischer Felder zu schützen, habe der Gesetzgeber eine Bundesimmissionsverordnung im Jahr 1997 in Kraft treten lassen. "In dieser sind aber nur thermische, also Wärmewirkungen berücksichtigt, damit soll der Körper vor einer akuten Überwärmung geschützt werden", sagte Zwerenz. Die so genannten athermischen Wirkungen, Merkmale bei geringen Leistungsdichten, die den Körper nicht mehr merklich erwärmen, seien bei der Hochfrequenz aber außer Acht gelassen worden.

Somit seien Wirkungen subakuter und chronischer Art nicht berücksichtigt. "Und genau hier liegt das Problem", stellte Zwerenz fest. Der Körper eines Menschen steuere sich nämlich auch mit geringsten elektromagnetischen Signalen. "Was ist also mit elektromagnetischen Wirkungen etwa aus Sinneszellen, dem Nervensystem oder auf die Gehirnfunktionen?" fragte der Vorsitzende des Vereins "Bürgerwelle". Die meisten Lebewesen könnten zwar eine ganze Weile solchen Wirkungen gegensteuern, " doch nach einer Latenzzeit ist die Gegenregulation des Körpers überfordert".

Hierzu gebe es inzwischen viele wissenschaftliche Studien, die belegten, dass durch Mobilfunk das Kurz- und Langzeitgedächtnis gestört werde. Durchlässig werde die Blut-HirnSchranke, "damit dringen Substanzen in das Gehirn ein, die die Nervenzellen zerstören, die das Blutbild veränderten, das Immun-System werde geschwächt, Erbgutschädigungen träten auf und auch das Krebswachstum werde beschleunigt", so das Szenario von Zwerenz.

Mit vielen wissenschaftlich, niedergelegten Fakten belegte Zwerenz seine Ausführungen. Von Seiten der Politik und der Mobilfunkbetreiber bestehe aber eine Voreingenommenheit gegen die Anerkennung schädlicher Wirkungen, die so weit gehe, dass die vorhandenen wissenschaftlichen Studien, "die diese Wirkungen beweisen, ignoriert werden, und diejenigen, die man benutzt hat, falsch dargestellt, gebraucht und interpretiert werden".

Zwerenz zitierte als Fazit ein Schreiben der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO): "Keine Normungsbehörde hat Expositionsrichtlinien mit dem Ziel erlassen, vor langfristigen gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen, wie einem möglichen erhöhten Krebsrisiko, zu schützen". Hier gebe die WHO zu, dass es gar nicht das Ziel der Behörden und deren Grenzwerte gewesen sei, einen langfristigen Schutz sicherzustellen. Damit würden alle Betreiber und die Politik widerlegt, die erklärten, die Grenzwerte würden langfristigen Schutz bieten.

Vorgeschlagen worden seien die Grenzwerte von der "ICNIRP". Dieses angeblich unabhängige Gremium sei weder eine UNO- noch eine WHO-Organisation, sondern eine private Organisation. "Somit ist klar, dass unsere Grenzwerte auf den Vorgaben eines 16-köpfigen privaten Clubs beruhen." Unsere Gesetze, so Zwerenz, schützen uns nicht. "Im Gegenteil, sie ermöglichen, dass immer mehr gesundheitsbedrohliche Mobilfunkstationen gebaut werden können", so der Referent.

Bei der heutigen MobilfunkTechnologie werde bewusst eine Schädigung der Volksgesundheit in Kauf genommen. Deshalb müssten die Bürger miteinander dem Grundrecht auf körperliche Unversehrtheit wieder Geltung verschaffen. Dies gelinge durch Information der breiten Öffentlichkeit und der Entscheidungsträger in Politik, Behörden und Medizin. "Die politischen Mandatsträger werden aufgefordert, die gesundheitswidrigen Rahmenbedingungen zu ändern", stellte Zwerenz unmissverständlich klar. Allein in Deutschland gebe es schon über 15000 Bürgerinitiativen, die sich mit immer mehr Erfolg gegen Sendeanlagen wehren. "Der Verein Bürgerwelle koordiniert diese Aktivitäten." Auf einen Nenner gebracht: "Wissenschaftler warnen mit fundierten Beweisen, Politiker beruhigen dennoch. Dabei gehe es vor allem auch um die Zukunft unserer Kinder.

Mit viel Applaus wurden die Ausführungen von Zwerenz bedacht, eine gewisse Ratlosigkeit auf Grund der besorgniserregenden Zahlen und Fakten sah man den Bürgern aus Garching und Wald regelrecht an. Dies spiegelte sich auch in den Fragen an den Vorsitzenden der "Bürgerwelle" wieder, " doch gut vorbereitet können durchaus auch in Garching weitere Mobilfunk-Sendeanlagen vermieden werden", so sein Grundtenor. Eine Entscheidung über zusätzliche Mobilfunkanlagen in Garching sei im Monat Februar durch die Entscheidungsträger zu erwarten, so Ernst Koths als einer der Initiatoren des Widerstands. "Wir werden im Februar definitiv keine Entscheidung treffen", sagte Reichenwallner in Bezug auf die beiden UMTSMobilfunkmasten, die Vodafone in Garching und Wald aufstellen will. Laut Reichenwallner führe Vodafone erst im April die Budgetverhandlungen, die darüber entscheiden, ob ein MobilfunkSendemast kommt. A WELLINGTON resident has voiced his concerns over a proposal for a 50-foot mobile phone mast set to go up on the Blackdown Trading Estate.

The application, submitted by Hutchinson 3G UK, has received the backing of Wellington Town Council, but Scott Palmer of Scotts Lane, where the mast will be placed, is far from happy about the decision.

Mr Palmer told the Gazette: "There are already two telephone masts there and it is not very fair because when the other two were put up they were so close to other houses.

"The planners are treating this as if it's not a residential area.

"I don't know when they are going to stop."

The plans include placing a 'base station' with mast and antennae at the back of Scotts Lane in the grounds of the King's Church centre.

Mr Palmer said that he could clearly see the other two masts already from one of his windows.

In a Wellington Town Council planning meeting the majority of councillors thought it was appropriate to have the new mast on a trading estate, but voted for it to be moved from the corner to a better position on the estate.

The application will now go before Taunton Deane Council.

Mitte Dezember haben sich in Stuttgart auf einer Veranstaltung Studierende, Beschäftigte im Metall- und im Gesundheitswesen und Aktivistinnen und Aktivisten verschiedener linker Organisierungen ausgetauscht. Dabei wurde von allen eine Zusammenarbeit und ein kontinuierlicher Austausch zu den kommenden Sozialprotesten, zum Beispiel den zur Zeit stattfindenden Aktionstagen der DGB Gewerkschaften, der Proteste gegen Studiengebühren usw. vereinbart. "Zeichen der Wut": Laut IG Metall protestierten 54.800 Beschäftigte gegen Rente mit 67

Nach Angaben der IG Metall sind am Dienstag aus Protest gegen die Rente mit 67 bundesweit über 54.800 Beschäftigte auf die Straße gegangen. "Alleine heute gingen über 44.700 gegen die Rentenpläne der Bundesregierung auf die Straße", so die Gewerkschaft. IG Metall Bezirksleiter Jörg Hofmann wertet die gute Teilnahme als Beweis für den Unmut unter den Menschen und als Zeichen der Wut bei den Arbeitnehmern. "Die Politik in Berlin wäre gut beraten, die Signale der Aktionen nicht zu überhören. Über 54.000 Menschen an zwei Tagen sind ein mehr als deutliches Signal", so Hofmann. Mit über 10.000 Teilnehmern fand die größte Kundgebung vor dem Tor der DaimlerChrysler AG in Sindelfingen statt.

"Aktionskreis für soziale Gerechtigkeit" in Bad Cannstatt gegen Rente mit 67

Nach den Protestaktionen am 14.12.06 (wir berichteten) ruft der Zusammenschluss aus Betriebsräten, Vertrauensleuten im Stadtteil und Vertretern des WASG Ortsverbands Bad Cannstatt zu weiteren Protesten auf. Anlässlich der von der IGM organisierten Proteste hat der Aktionskreis ein Flugblatt herausgebracht, in dem er sich dafür einsetzt, dass die Proteste weitergehen und spätestens bei der Anhörung der Rentengesetze am 26.2.07 am Nachmittag in allen Betrieben erneut Demonstrationen während der Arbeitszeit organisiert werden und alle Belegschaften und die gesamte Bevölkerung zur einer gemeinsamen Demonstration in der Stuttgarter Innenstadt aufgerufen werde. Erklärtes Ziel des Widerstands solle sein, dass die Rente 67 und die Rentenpläne der Regierung insgesamt (Auslaufen der Altersteilzeit, keine Rentenerhöhung in den nächsten 10 Jahren, weitere Rentenkürzungen durch den Nachholfaktor) gestoppt werden. Am Donnerstag, den 22. Februar ruft der Aktionskreis zu einer zweiten Kundgebung im Stadtteil gegen die Rentenpläne der Berliner Regierung auf. Der politische Streik in Deutschland

Die Demonstrationen der IGM während der Arbeitszeit haben die Auseinandersetzung um die Frage des politischen Streiks neu entfacht. Die Unternehmerverbände bezeichnen die Protestaktionen als illegal. In einigen Betrieben haben Vorgesetzte Kolleginnen und Kollegen mit Abmahnungen bedroht, weil es gesetzwidrig sei, während der Arbeitszeit zu demonstrieren. Der IGM-Vorsitzende Peters konterte die Angriffe mit den Worten: "Das Demonstrationsrecht als ein sehr hohes, ausdrücklich geschütztes Gut ist nicht am Werkstor abzugeben". Trotz dieser Aussage wird der politische Streik selbst in den Gewerkschaften kontrovers diskutiert. Lucy Redler hat im Jahr 2004 ihre Diplomarbeit zum Thema "Der politische Streik in Deutschland nach 1945" geschrieben. In der Einleitung dazu heißt es: "Die zentrale Fragestellung ist, in welchen historischen Situationen die Arbeiterklasse ihrem Kampf eine politische Richtung gab und welche gesellschaftlichen Umstände die Existenz und das Ausmaß politischer Streiks begünstigten oder negativ beeinflussten". Neben einer theoretischen Auseiandersetzung mit der Frage enthält die Arbeit eine historische Chronologie politischer Streiks vom Generalstreik 1948 bis zu den Protesten gegen die Aushebelung der Tarifautonomie im Herbst 2003. Im Schlussteil wird untersucht, warum es in Deutschland noch keine mit anderen europäischen Ländern vergleichbare Streikbewegungen gibt und unter welchen Bedingungen sich dies ändern könnte. Siehe:

„Die betrieblichen Aktionstage Ende Januar waren im Bereich der IG Metall ein Erfolg. Über 300.000 KollegInnen haben während der Arbeitszeit gegen die Einführung der Rente mit 67 demonstriert. Die Bilanz von ver.di war weit weniger positiv. In einzelnen Bezirken und Landesbezirken, z. B. in Baden-Württemberg und im Bezirk Stuttgart oder auch in Niedersachsen, wurde mobilisiert und haben auch betriebliche Aktionen stattgefunden. Im verdi-Bereich waren die weißen Flecken jedoch weitaus größer als bei der IG Metall. Doch auch dort ist das Bild nicht bundeseinheitlich. Rente ab 67 ist grandiose Fehlleistung

Zur heutigen Entscheidung der Bundestagsmehrheit, die Rente mit 67 einzuführen, erklärt der Bundesgeschäftsführer der Linkspartei.PDS, Dietmar Bartsch:

Die parlamentarische Mehrheit hat entschieden zukünftig wird bis 67 gearbeitet. Keine Argumente, keine Fakten, die gegen den Rentenirrsinn sprachen, fanden Gehör bei Minister Müntefering und den Regierungsparteien. Sie setzen gnadenlos ihre unsoziale und wirklichkeitsfremde Politik auf Kosten der Bürgerinnen und Bürger fort. Das Renteneintrittsalter wird auf 67 erhöht, obwohl nur ein Drittel der Menschen über 55 überhaupt noch Arbeit hat. Da faktisch Arbeitsplätze fehlen, führt eine verlängerte Lebensarbeitszeit direkt zur Rentenkürzung und in Altersarmut. Ganze Generationen von Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer werden so um ihre Lebensleistung gebracht. Die Bundesregierung unterlässt jede Form von flankierenden Maßnahmen: keine sozial gerechte Rentenversicherung, kein gesetzlicher Mindestlohn zur Stabilisierung des Rentensystems, keine offensive Beschäftigungspolitik für ältere Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer... 83 Prozent der Menschen in Deutschland lehnen eine Erhöhung des Renteneintrittsalters ab. Darüber hat sich die Mehrzahl der SPD- und Unionsabgeordneten arrogant hinweggesetzt. Selten wurde in Deutschland Politik so direkt am Volk vorbei gemacht. Ich bin maßlos enttäuscht von den ostdeutschen SPD-Abgeordneten, die wider besseres Wissen auch der Rente mit 67 zugestimmt haben. In Ostdeutschland stehen nur sieben Prozent der 64jährigen noch in Lohn und Brot. Die Linkspartei.PDS spricht sich für eine Flexibilisierung des Renteneintrittsalters aus. Wir wollen, dass Versicherte mit 40 Beitragsjahren in jedem Fall einen vollen Rentenanspruch erhalten.

Gemeinsamer Kampf gegen die Rente mit 67

Die Forderung von Klaus Wiesehügel, Vorsitzender der Industriegewerkschaft Bauen-Agrar-Umwelt, die Rente mit 67 im Jahre 2010 zu überprüfen, unterstützt Klaus Ernst, stellvertretender Vorsitzender der Partei DIE LINKE:

Die Rente ab 67 ist nicht vergessen. Auch DIE LINKE wird die Rente im Wahlkampf auf die Tagesordnung setzen. Wir kämpfen wie die Gewerkschaften um gute Arbeit, gute Löhne und gute Renten. Arbeitslosigkeit, Niedriglöhne und Rentenkürzungen führen in den kommenden Jahren zu einer Rückkehr der Altersarmut - wenn nicht die gesetzliche Rentenversicherung gestärkt und solidarisch umgebaut wird. Bei der Bundestagswahl im September können sich die Menschen entscheiden: für DIE LINKE, die gegen die Rente mit 67 und für eine gesetzliche Rente unter Einbeziehung aller Erwerbseinkommen kämpft oder für SPD, Grüne und Union, die in den letzten Jahren die Rentner von heute und morgen beraubt haben.

„Ende des Jahres soll das Briefmonopol für Privatkunden der Deutschen Post AG fallen. Bei der Geschäftspost drängen die Konkurrenten schon seit Jahren mit aller Macht auf den Markt. Vor allem um die Großkunden ist ein harter Wettbewerb entbrannt und der läuft vor allem über den Preis. Die Konkurrenten der Post sind billiger. Die günstigen Tarife können aber auch angeboten werden, weil die Löhne deutlich niedriger sind. So niedrig, dass selbst bei einer Vollzeitstelle der Verdienst nicht zum Lebensunterhalt reicht und der Staat zuschießen muss. Viele Zusteller bei privaten Postdienstleistern müssen zusätzlich zu ihrem Gehalt Arbeitslosengeld II beantragen, um über die Runden zu kommen. Trotz einer harten
40-Stunden-Woche müssen sie mit Einkommen auf Hartz-IV-Niveau leben. Jährlich im Februar treffen sich im Bayerischen Hof ca. 250 - 300 Minister, Militärs, Parlamentarier, Sicherheitsexperten, Wissenschaftler, Journalisten und bedeutende Vertreter der Rüstungswirtschaft zur Münchner Konferenz für Sicherheitspolitik. Sie hieß früher Wehrkundetagung. Die Konferenz wird einschl. der polizeilichen Absicherung vollständig durch die Bundesregierung aus Steuergeldern, finanziert.

Welchen Hintergrund hat es dass gegen diese Konferenz tausende Menschen auf die Straße gehen, dass Demonstrationsverbote ausgesprochen und Straßen gesperrt werden, dass Geschäftsleute ihre Läden verrammeln und dass bis zu 6000 teilweise schwerst bewaffnete Polizisten die „Sicherheitskonferenz sichern“? Es hat doch eigentlich niemand etwas gegen Sicherheit und Geborgenheit.

Doch vielen Menschen beschleicht das Gefühl, dass es bei dieser Konferenz nur vordergründig um die Sicherheit der Menschen geht. Es geht wohl mehr um die Sicherung einer Ordnung, die vor allem dem Westen, seiner Macht und seinem Reichtum dient. Garant dieser Sicherung ist das militärische Gewaltpotential. Dieses wird aus unseren Steuern finanziert und wird aufrechterhalten durch unseren Glauben, dass Militär und Rüstung letztlich dem Frieden dienen und daher unverzichtbar seien. Die Sicherheitskonferenz ist ein Kristallisationspunkt solchen Glaubens; quasi sein permanentes Konzil.

Wie sollte man nun mit dieser Sicherheitskonferenz umgehen? - Soll man die Dinge auf sich beruhen lassen? - Sollte man dafür demonstrieren, dassdie Sicherheitskonferenz nicht mehr abgehalten werden soll? - Oder soll man versuchen, diese Sicherheitskonferenz zu verändern?

Die Projektgruppe „Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz verändern“ hat das letztere gewählt.

Sepp Rottmayr, Mitglied dieser Projektgruppe stellt dieses ungewöhnliche Projekt, seine Grundlagen, seine Motive und seine Arbeitsweise in diesem Referat vor.

"Weltweite Kriegs- und Besatzungspolitik" Demonstration gegen Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz

Unter dem Motto "Gespensterzug der Rüstungsmafia" demonstrieren am Dienstag Gegner der am Wochenende stattfindenden Sicherheitskonferenz in der Münchner Innenstadt. Der Demonstrationszug soll vom Stachus bis zum nahe gelegenen Tagungsort Hotel Bayerischer Hof ziehen, wie das "Aktionsbündnis gegen die Nato-Sicherheitskonferenz" mitteilte. Auch für Freitag und Samstag sind Demonstrationen geplant.

Organisator der Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz wirft Gegnern Verleumdung vor

Der Organisator der Münchner Sicherheitskonferenz, Horst Teltschik, hat Gegnern der Veranstaltung Verleumdung vorgeworfen. Mit Blick auf geplante Demonstrationen gegen das Treffen am kommenden Wochenende sagte Teltschik der "Frankfurter Rundschau": "Wenn ich die Aufrufe lese - sie sind verleumderisch." Seine Kritik beziehe sich nicht "auf brave Bürger, denen es wirklich um Frieden geht", betonte der ehemalige Berater von Bundeskanzler Helmut Kohl (CDU). Sein Problem seien Organisatoren von Protesten, denen es "ausschließlich um die Verleumdung der Konferenz und ihrer Teilnehmer" gehe.

Ohne Frieden keine Sicherheit

Anlässlich der heute beginnenden 43. Münchner Konferenz für Sicherheitspolitik erklärt Helmut Scholz, Mitglied des Parteivorstandes:

Die Münchener Sicherheitskonferenz wird auch in diesem Jahr ihrem Namen nicht gerecht. Themen wie strukturelle Nichtangriffsfähigkeit und Abrüstung als Ausgangspunkt internationaler Absprachen und eines friedens- und sicherheitspolitischen Diskurses stehen nicht zur Debatte. Anstelle der so dringend notwendigen umfassenden Abrüstung hält München 2007 an der Logik des heute schon gescheiterten Krieges gegen den Terror und an einer Weiterentwicklung der Überwachungs- und Waffensysteme fest. Eine Fortsetzung dieser Konzeption zwingt Veranstalter Horst Teltschik zu weiteren Sicherheitskonferenzen, ohne wirkliche Vorschläge für eine internationale Sicherheitspolitik anzubieten, die das friedliche Zusammenleben der Völker garantieren können.

43mal Münchner Konferenz für Sicherheitspolitik sind 43 verpasste Gelegenheiten, die informellen Gespräche von Vertretern der Industrie- und Nato-Staaten zu einem breiten und offenen Diskurs zur Friedens- und Sicherheitspolitik zu nutzen. Auch in diesem Jahr werden statt engagierter Friedensaktivisten und Politiker, die Frieden durch nicht-militärische Ansätze verwirklichen wollen, die Herrschaften der Rüstungsindustrie begrüßt: Vertreter von Firmen wie EADS, Lockheed Martin oder Rheinmetall werden sich die Klinke in die Hand geben. Heute wie vor zehn Jahren, als die Konferenz noch Wehrkundetagung hieß, lässt der militärisch-industrielle-Komplex grüßen. Die Linkspartei.PDS unterstützt deshalb den notwendigen Druck von Gegenöffentlichkeit und Demonstrationen.

Gewerkschaften gemeinsam gegen NATO-Ministertagung

Nicht nur in München, auch in Sevilla treffen sich dubiose Vereinigungen: dort sind es die Kriegs-Minister der Mitgliedsstaaten am 8. und 9. Februar. Mehr als 3000 oder gar 7000 Menschen haben am Wochenende in München gegen die Sicherheitskonferenz demonstriert.
