Conyers Releases Massive New Report on Bush-Cheney Crimes

The minority staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, under the leadership of Congressman John Conyers (D., Mich.) just released a staggering report with the hard evidence of crimes and abuses committed by President Bush and his administration (breaking 26 specific laws). This report, "The Constitution in Crisis," should provide the raw material for numerous news reports and point reporters toward fertile ground for additional investigations. Please take a look: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/constitutionincrisis

Now, Take Action!

1. Ask the media to cover Conyers' report. Thus far there has been a single mention on CNN and a dishonest attack piece in National Review. Where are serious journalists? http://capwiz.com/pdamerica/issues/alert/?alertid=8955221&type=ME

2. Ask your Congress Member to sponsor H. Res. 635 to start an investigation. http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/635

3. Buy this report as a book. Pre-order, and ask your friends to do so, and get it on the best-seller lists. The book, which includes an Introduction by Ambassador Joseph Wilson and a Forward by Congressman Conyers, is entitled "George W. Bush Versus the U.S. Constitution." Buy it here.

At Long Last...

Can you name the one country on earth where the government can steal elections, strip away basic rights, spy on citizens, and launch wars based on lies, but where the people do not take over the nation's capital in protest?

If you said the United States, you'll be wrong on September fifth when Camp Democracy begins on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. http://www.campdemocracy.org

At long last, Americans are preparing to say "Enough is enough," and to do what Ukrainians, Mexicans, or any other people not drugged into acquiescence would do when things got this bad: occupy the capital city to demand peace, justice, and accountability.

Share a Ride to Camp Democracy, Share a Room When You Get Here!

Camp Democracy will be held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from September 5 to 21. This will be a camp for peace, democracy, and the restoration of the rule of law. Camp Casey will move from Crawford, Texas, to Washington to create a larger camp focused not only on ending the war but also on righting injustices here at home and on holding accountable the Bush Administration and Congress. http://www.campdemocracy.org

Your travel to Camp Democracy is part of the camp and should be a community-building experience. Do you have two people in your car but four seats? Can you bring a van? A large bus? Or do you want to fly on a plane together with others bound for Camp Democracy? Sign up here to offer a ride or to ask for one: http://spaceshare.com/campdemocracy

Do you have or need a room in the Washington, D.C., area? Sign up here to offer a room or request one: http://spaceshare.com/campdemocracy

We Need Your Help! Camp Democracy is a grassroots effort and will only succeed with the help of many, many people contributing the small amounts they can afford. This is our opportunity to do what the citizens of the Ukraine, of Mexico, and of other countries do when their democracies are taken from them. This is our chance to say "Enough is enough!" Can you help us?

Planning an Impeachment Blog Action

Starting at noon ET on September 1, 2006, and lasting 24 hours, websites and blogs all across the internet are being asked to replace their front pages with the single word "Impeach" in simple white text on a black background. Here's an example: http://impeachnet.net

Visitors to those sites and blogs will be able to click and link to the sites' usual front pages. But first they will see a word that, standing alone, is as powerful as any word right now: it is banned by our political and media leadership but more popular among citizens and activists than perhaps any other. It is both shocking and welcome. For 24 hours, web surfers and blog readers will see that word first when they visit their favorite sites. In this way, we hope to get the public talking about the one tool guaranteed by the Founders to restore our Constitutional Democracy. Please encourage your favorite websites to take part in this action. If you plan to take part, please let us know here: http://www.impeachnet.net/blog/contact

"When Bush vetoed the embryonic stem-cell bill (the first veto of his presidency), he remarked that the implementation of this bill would have promoted the taking of innocent human life, something that "crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect." Regardless of the merits or pitfalls of the bill, I find it ironic (to understate) that this president invokes morality as the reason for his action--this president who has crossed so many moral boundaries himself . . . to devastating effect...." http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/13445

Largest US Oil Field Shutting Down

Check out this story on the pipeline shutdown from DC Indymedia:

In this episode of War of the Trees, we discuss the effect of the closure of BP's pipeline serving about 1/3 of the Prudhoe Bay oil fields on gas prices.

Still want that gas-guzzling SUV? That $3 a gallon for gas is just the beginning and will soon sound cheap! Some of the damage form Katrina and Rita to Texas and New Orleans oil facilities has yet to be repaired, and now BP has to shut down a large part of production in Alaska.

This is on top of Peak Oil, meaning that the Saudi wells and most other oil fields are already runnign flat-out and cannot make up the difference.

There is yet another factor-Why those pieplines are rusting out. This implies that the oil is corrosive, loaded with sulfur. Rusting, like other chemical reactions, doubles or halves its speed with every ten degree change in temperature. This is why exhaust pipes on your car rust so fast.

It's very cold in Alaska, yet heavy iron pipes have rusted nearly through in just a few decades! Used as sewer pipes they could have lasted over a century. What does this mean? It means all this corrosive sulfure is still in the oil when its made into gas and diesel-contributing to urban smog!

It's not ozone, but sulfate particles in the air from oil and coal together with ozone create the infamous "smoky" look of polluted air. Usually its the ozone you feel burning in your lungs after about 15 minutes on the bike on a Code Red or Code Orange day, but sulfer dioxide can do this too.

Also included: A reminder that Peace, Pro-Earth, Pro-animal, and pro- housing (as in antigentrification) activists are all on the same team and must work together. Children and crayfish need the same thing-the right to grow up in peace!

Mindless in Iraq

As we now know, Donald Rumsfeld's Pentagon had no plan to secure any part of Baghdad. It allowed looters to destroy Iraq's governmental infrastructure and to steal thousands of tons of high explosives, weapons, and radioactive materials. And it had no coherent plan for Iraq's post-war governance.

ACTION PAGE: http://www.usalone.com/stacey/pnum306.php

As a Congressman, I will not shirk away from my oath of office. Saying that includes the inherent responsibility to hold the balance of powers within their Constitutional function. It has been determined that the Executive Branch has committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" in the public eye. Through illegal wiretaps, spying on American citizens, lying to start a war, sacrificing national security in lieu of petty political revenge and criminal neglect in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, the current administration has abused its privileged position for profiteering and selfish ambition.

To put it bluntly, "regime change" begins at home.

The problem we’re faced with is the Majority Party in Washington DC honestly believes they are chosen by divine providence to rule the world. The error is clear. They have their jobs by our good graces, not the other way around. If we are to bring sobriety back to our system of government, we must first elect new leadership to lead the charge for change and hold the all of those in the administration responsible for their actions.

We have been lied to, marketed to, mislead, threatened and pick-pocketed. Every one of the principles of our Constitution has been under attack, and dangerous power-grabs by petty tyrants imperil its virtue. Our children will now bear the brunt of this administration’s myopic and selfish ambition, and the very future of this American Experiment is in serious question. We must do what is necessary to save our Republic from predators who only seek riches and glory for themselves at the expense of the rest of us.

ACTION PAGE: http://www.usalone.com/stacey/pnum306.php

This alert is brought to you through the activism of Stacey Tallitsch, running for the U.S. House in the 1st Congressional district, and one of the leading progressive voices in the state of Louisiana. Many of you have already submitted his action page calling for the troops in Iraq to start coming home now, a policy that is more surely correct with every passing state of emergency in Baghdad.

Stacey has been running call to action radio spots in this district , calling for an end of the obstinate occupation of Iraq, a military escapade which has brought nothing but death and destruction to both their country and our own. And he has produced a new one on the impeachment issue. You can hear the new spot on this page.

RADIO SPOT DONATIONS: http://www.usalone.com/stacey/donations.php

Nobody can predict how a particular race will turn out. But we know that the spots we ran on impeachment had tremendous secondary impact, as TWO other groups were inspired to run their own call to action ads on this issue as a result of the investment we made in this action. If you are able to do so, please make whatever donation you can to continue the stand we are taking on issue after issue.

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this message to everyone else you know.

Störfall in Forsmark: Atomausstieg beschleunigen!

New Conyers report

Mother Jones
by Jennifer Wedekind

Beginning with post-9/11 false intelligence and public deception, Conyers uses sources including public statements, the Downing Street Memo, CIA reports and intelligence briefings to refute Bush's carefully constructed propaganda advocating a war with Iraq. Step by step Conyers traces the different reports citing no links between Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein, and the lack of evidence of WMDs. Beginning with Bush's State of the Union claim that 'Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium for Africa,' he demonstrates how the CIA, the State Department and the National Intelligence Council all informed the administration that the Niger uranium claim was 'equivocally false.' French intelligence authorities went so far to say the Niger story was 'bs....' And there is no doubt the administration knew they had faulty intelligence. One CIA official recounted his superior giving orders saying, 'You know what? If Bush wants to go to war, it's your job to give him a reason to do so'...

Sozialarbeit in 1 1/2 Jahren Hartz IV

You May Be a Constitutionalist If...

by Pastor Chuck Baldwin

More than thirty years as a student of American history, constitutional government, and the Holy Bible leads me to the conviction that the two major political parties in this country are equally culpable in stripping America of its founding principles. In my opinion, both the Democrat and Republican parties in Washington, D.C., have zero fidelity to the U.S. Constitution and zero respect for America's foundational precepts.....
