Elderly residents take to streets to protest at mobile phone mast

CONCERNED elderly people marched through St Austell to deliver a petition to Restormel in protest against a mobile phone mast 100 metres from their retirement village.
A 30-strong contingent of the Buckler's Village Residents' Association were on Tuesday fighting for a voice in a private meeting about the O2 mast near Wheal Northey.
An official complaint about the mast made to the Ombudsman at Restormel by the Bethel Mast Action Group was being discussed by councillors and officers who will decide if any action should be taken.
Resident association secretary, Frank Boulton, 69, said: "The mast is only 100 metres from our homes and people have been ill since it has been there over the past three years.
