Auf solche Jobs können wir getrost verzichten. Mini-Jobs und Niedrigstlöhne helfen nicht aus der Krise: Die Betroffenen stecken in ständiger Geldnot und dem Land fehlt es weiter an Kaufkraft. Arbeit muss gewürdigt und geschützt werden! Deshalb fordert DIE LINKE einen gesetzlichen Mindestlohn, Schutz vor Entlassung und Schutz vor Erpressung durch Leiharbeitnehmerinnen und Leiharbeitnehmer. Das ist die richtige Alternative!

Then it will be auctioned to yet another private equity firm, the seventh such sale in little more than 20 years. Repeatedly, new owners stuck their greedy hands under the mattress and pulled out money. Each time, that hurt the company and the workers. It's time to flip the mattress on that failed economic philosophy.

Noch drastischer wird das ungleiche Einkommensniveau für gleiche Arbeit in der Kirche Hessen-Nassau. Krankenschwestern und -Pfleger verdienen dort 10 Prozent, Sozialpädagogen 16 Prozent, Ärztinnen und Ärzte um 6 Prozent und Erzieherinnen um 5 Prozent und eine Hauswirtschafterin 13 Prozent weniger als in vergleichbaren Tarifen. Selbst eine Reinigungskraft verdient 20 Prozent weniger als nach dem gültigen Gebäudereinigertarif. Damit gerät auch der katholische Caritas unter den Druck des evangelischen Lohndumpings, denn „selbst die AVR-Caritas liegt auf dem TVöD-Niveau“ des öffentlichen Dienstes, so die Gewerkschaft ver.di. ..“

Ever since Iran reported the existence of its Qom enrichment facility to the IAEA, one central assertion has been repeated as fact over and over by the American media to make the story as incriminating as possible: namely, that Iran only disclosed this because they discovered they had been ‘caught,’ i.e., they found out that the West knew of this facility and they thus had no choice but to disclose it. That assertion has been fundamental to the entire Iran drama. After all, if Iran voluntarily notified the IAEA of the Qom facility before it was even operational and thus agreed to have the facility inspected, it’s impossible to maintain the melodramatic storyline that Iran was planning something deeply nefarious here and got ‘caught red-handed.’ The assertion that Iran was forced into disclosure is vital to the entire plot, and it’s been constantly repeated as fact. But ever since this episode began, I’ve read countless accounts from numerous sources and never once saw a single piece of evidence to support this claim — and I’ve been actively looking for it and asking if anyone has seen such evidence...

NEIN zur betrieblichen Rasterfahndung

Die stellvertretende Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE Halina Wawzyniak kritisiert die Pläne von Innenminister de Maiziére zum Arbeitnehmerdatenschutz scharf. Sie erklärt:

Der Gesetzentwurf zum Arbeitnehmerdatenschutz aus dem Hause de Maiziére liest sich wie ein Katalog des datenschutzrechtlichen Grauens: Mitarbeiterortung per GPS, das Scannen von Mitarbeiterdaten und Mailverkehr, Wühlen in sozialen Netzwerken zur Informationsgewinnung bis hin zur möglichen Videoüberwachung in Ausnahmefällen. Die angemahnte „Verhältnismäßigkeit“ beim Einsatz der Mittel ist nur ein Feigenblatt vor dem kompletten Abbruch an der informationellen Selbstbestimmung von Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmern. Abgesehen davon, dass durch diese Maßnahmen ein permanentes Klima des Misstrauens in Unternehmen entsteht, gefährden sie das Engagement von Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern für mehr Mitbestimmung und Demokratie im Betrieb. DIE LINKE fordert klare Rechtsvorschriften, die den Schutz von Arbeitnehmerdaten absolut garantieren. Verstöße dagegen müssen empfindliche Strafen nach sich ziehen. Ungenügender Datenschutz macht Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer gerade in Zeiten der Krise erpressbar. Das wird DIE LINKE nicht hinnehmen.

These days, as the pattern of endless war seems to be locked into the DNA of all our leaders, be they Democrats or Republicans, I grieve particularly for our fellow countrymen who have given up their lives in service to their country over the past nine years. I remember well the young faces of my former Army comrades who died in Vietnam in a war that none of us understood, faces frozen in time from lives now lost forever. The numbers tell us that 4,348 Americans have died in Iraq and 869 in Afghanistan, with no end in sight on either front and the death rate in Afghanistan escalating dramatically. I carefully read the obituaries of soldiers and Marines in the newspapers, men and women just like me who leave behind shattered families, who will never see their children grow, who will never have their dreams realized. … And they have shed their blood not to nourish the tree of liberty, but rather a garden of deceit planted by our politicians, who have forgotten the cardinal rule that asking any American to die on foreign soil should be a last resort, not a ‘policy option.’ Eight years of the sacrifice of our children has not made us safer, has not made us better, and has only made much of the world hate us...
