Umverteilungsbeschleunigungsgesetz sollte es heißen

18. Dezember 2009

Documents Suggest Bush White House Failed to Search for Libby's "Missing" Emails Subpoenaed in CIA Leak Probe

Jason Leopold, Truthout: "Between late 2005 and January 2006, the Bush administration tried to recover 'lost' emails from staffers who worked in the Office of the Vice President (OVP), an effort that centered on a critical week - October 1 through October 6, 2003 - that coincided with an announcement by the Justice Department that it had launched an investigation into the leak of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson."

Initial Jobless Claims in U.S. Unexpectedly Increase

More Americans than anticipated filed first-time claims for unemployment benefits last week, a reminder that the labor market will take time to strengthen and may weigh on the economic recovery.

The Bad Job Numbers and the Secret Second Stimulus

Robert Reich, RobertReich.org: "The Labor Department reports that 85,000 jobs were lost in December. The official rate of unemployment (which measures how many people are looking for jobs) held steady at 10 percent nonetheless. That's because so many more people have stopped looking. Reportedly, 661,000 Americans dropped out of the labor force last month, deciding there was no hope of finding a job. Had they continued to look, the official unemployment rate would have been 10.4 percent."

Concerned over the supply of oil to the US and a supposed need to continue the global 'War on Terror', President Barack Obama has essentially maintained the militarised approach to Africa that was the hallmark of his immediate predecessors George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, writes Daniel Volman.

Obama Is Preparing for War in South America

The rise of Barack Obama neutralized a growing sentiment for profound change inside the US. Hopefully, the slowdown in US activism will only be temporary. South of the border, there is tremendous change taking place. New social, political and economic models are being built by popular grassroots movements in Venezuela, Bolivia and other Latin American nations that seek economic and social justice.

Stunning Statistics About the War Every American Should Know
