We need to preserve this mass movement for the defense of liberty; which Ron Paul has created, without regard to what happens in the election. We could WIN the election, and still lose the battle for freedom, if we fail to maintain this mass movement for the defense of liberty. Ron Paul cannot do everything by himself. The masses, organized for the defense of liberty, will be needed to influence Congress to support President Paul.

It is nearly impossible these days to escape the bullies who are set to run everyone’s life. I thought I would visit friends on the Central California Coast to get away from it all for a day but no such luck. No sooner did I settle in with my friends to drink a glass or two of some very fine wine from their and some other cellars, I encountered yet another horror story about the demise of private property rights in the United States of America. This time it isn’t the eminent domain bullies who have been popping up everywhere, insisting on misconstruing the Fifth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution as authorizing transfer of private property by government edict to preferred private concerns. (That is what the outrageous Supreme Court Ruling in 2005, Kelo v. City of New London Connecticut sanctioned.) This time the excuse is a legal fiction called ‘Smart Growth,’” whereby powerful politicians everywhere are forcibly imposing their vision of how people should live and use their own land.

The home mortgage default and foreclosure figures are in for February. The Bush Administration was not anxious to release them. The figures don't look good. The home mortgage crisis has become contagious. It's spreading from the subprime home market into the prime loan market. Approximately 2.3% of the holders of prime rate mortgages were at least 60 days late. That number is up 1.4% from a year ago. It is the highest level of delinquencies from prime rate borrowers in a decade. Prime rate mortgages are given only to the "A" list of credit worthiness........

Einem Bericht von tagesschau.de zufolge rangeln nun die NATO, die EU und Russland um ihren Einfluss in der Region. Es geht um die einstige Sowjetrepublik Georgien, die die USA und die EU in die NATO integrieren wollen. Ausgetragen wird der Konflikt mit Russland unter anderem über die abtrünnigen georgischen Provinzen Abchasien und Südossetien. Es bestehe akute Kriegsgefahr im Streit mit Russland um Abchasien, behauptete Georgiens Präsident Michail Saakaschwili kürzlich. Mit Vergeltung drohte Russlands Außenminister Sergej Lawrow, sollte die Ex-Sowjetrepublik militärisch vorgehen. Laut tagesschau.de ist die NATO schon seit 2002 dabei, aus der einstmaligen georgischen "Operettenarmee" eine Streitmacht nach NATO-Standard zu machen. Bei den Menschen in den abtrünnigen Regionen löste dies Ängste aus, das vom Westen unterstützte Georgien könnte die Konflikte mit militärischen Mitteln lösen.

Der Verfassungsschutz will am Donnerstag seinen Jahresbericht vorstellen. Bereits jetzt wurde bekannt, dass DIE LINKE nach wie vor im Focus des Verfassungsschutzes steht. Dazu erklärt der Bundesgeschäftsführer Dietmar Bartsch:

Wenn die heute bereits bekannt gewordenen Fakten stimmen, geht es offenbar nicht um den Schutz der Verfassung sondern eher um politisches Kalkül. Hier wird versucht, mit den Mitteln des Verfassungsschutzes Mitglieder und Sympathisanten der LINKEN zu diskreditieren. Das ist eine Unverschämtheit. Ich fordere Innenminister Schäuble auf, die Beobachtung und Erfassung von Mitgliedern der Partei DIE LINKE unverzüglich einzustellen – unabhängig davon ob Kommunistische Plattform, Cuba si oder andere. Ich darf daran erinnern, dass Innenminister Schäuble als oberster Dienstherr der Verfassungsschützer seit Jahren versucht, das Grundgesetz auszuhöhlen. Mit Datenvorratsspeicherung und Onlineüberwachung hat er die verfassungsmäßig garantierte informationelle Selbstbestimmung bereits ad absurdum geführt. DIE LINKE hat sich stets ohne Einschränkung zum Grundgesetz bekannt, ist beispielsweise in Brandenburg verfassungsgebende Partei. DIE LINKE stellt Bürgermeister, Landräte und Oberbürgermeister, arbeitet in G10-Kommissionen der Länder mit und ist im Bundestag, im Europaparlament und in zehn Landtagen mit Fraktionen vertreten. Dennoch wird DIE LINKE einschließlich ihrer Abgeordneten vom Verfassungsschutz weiter belauscht und ausgespäht. Das ist verkehrte Welt: Laut Grundgesetz kontrolliert immer noch das Parlament den Verfassungsschutz und nicht umgekehrt. DIE LINKE wird die rechtliche Auseinandersetzung fortführen.

Der Verfassungsschutz wird als fünfte Kolonne der CDU missbraucht

Zur Ankündigung des Verfassungsschutzes, DIE LINKE weiter zu beobachten, erklärt die Vorsitzende der Partei DIE LINKE, Gesine Lötzsch:

Die Überwachung der Partei DIE LINKE durch den Verfassungsschutz ist parteipolitisch motiviert, undemokratisch und verfassungswidrig. Herr Fromm macht sich als Beamter zum Handlanger der CDU. Der Versuch, DIE LINKE als extremistisch einzustufen, hat mit der politischen Realität nichts zu tun. Die Wahrheit ist: Nicht nur der Programmentwurf unserer Partei, sondern auch die praktische Politik der Partei DIE LINKE setzt auf eine Veränderung der Gesellschaft mit demokratischen Mitteln. Der Einsatz des Geheimdienstes gegen uns zeigt, dass die Kanzlerin nicht den Mut aufbringt, sich mit uns auf demokratischem Wege auseinanderzusetzen. Das ist ein Armutszeugnis. Die Beobachtung der LINKEN durch den Verfassungsschutz muss im Bund und in allen Ländern sofort eingestellt werden.

Verfassungsschutz muss Beobachtung der LINKEN einstellen

Der heute veröffentlichte Verfassungsschutzbericht 2009 unterstellt zum wiederholten Mal "Anzeichen für linksextremistische Bestrebungen" innerhalb der Partei DIE LINKE. Dazu erklärt die Bundesgeschäftsführerin der Partei DIE LINKE, Caren Lay:

Der Verfassungsschutz wird nach wie vor für parteipolitische Zwecke missbraucht. Der Verfassungsschutz ist der verlängerte Arm von CDU/ CSU und FDP. Offensichtlich sollen Menschen, die mit der LINKEN sympathisieren, stigmatisiert und weiter ausgegrenzt werden. Das ist 20 Jahre nach der deutschen Einheit absurd und inakzeptabel für eine Partei die bereits in 13 Landtagen sitzt. DIE LINKE erwartet in Kürze durch das Urteil des Bundesverfassungsgerichts im Falle des thüringischen Fraktionsvorsitzenden Bodo Ramelow, die sofortige Beendigung dieser Schnüffeleien.

ödp München ruft auf zur Teilnahme an Groß-Demo: „Für sauberes Saatgut und ein Europa ohne Gentechnik“

Die Münchner ödp ruft alle Bürgerinnen und Bürger auf, am 21. Mai 2008 in München an der überparteilichen Demonstration von Gentechnikfreies Europa e. V. „Für sauberes Saatgut und ein Europa ohne Gentechnik“ teilzunehmen.

Die Demo beginnt um 11:00 Uhr am Odeonsplatz. Neben Jeffrey M. Smith, dem Autor von „Trojanische Staaten“ und Vertretern des Bayerischen Bauernverbandes, Bund Deutscher Milchviehhalter, spricht auch Manfred Hederer, der Präsident des Deutschen Berufsimkerbundes. Der Demonstrationszug zieht zum Landgericht, Nymphenburger Straße 16. Dort findet um 13 Uhr die Gerichtsverhandlung gegen die Gentechnik-Gegner Jürgen Binder, Imkermeister, Tanja Hinze, Zimmerin und Rainer Kubach, Milchviehhalter, statt.

„Die ökologischen und gesundheitlichen Risiken der Agro-Gentechnik sind mangels Langzeitstudien nicht abzuschätzen. Eine friedliche Koexistenz mit herkömmlichem Anbau ist nicht möglich, denn Pollen und Bienen fliegen viele Kilometer weit. Der vom Bundeslandwirtschaftsminister Seehofer eingeführte Mindestabstand von 150m ist deshalb grob fahrlässig. Ist genverändertes Saatgut einmal ausgesetzt, ist es nicht mehr rückhol- und kontrollierbar“ so Johannes Grössl, stellvertretender Münchner ödp-Vorsitzender.

Grössl weiter: „Der Kampf gegen die grüne Gentechnik wird ein Schwerpunktthema für die ödp im Landtagswahlkampf sein. Leider verdanken wir gerade Frau Künast und damit Bündnis 90 / die Grünen, die Einführung der Agro-Gentechnik in Europa. Schließlich war es die ehemalige Ministerin, die bei der entscheidenden Abstimmung im EU-Ministerrat nicht gegen die Einführung der Agro-Gentechnik gestimmt hat. Die ödp fordert volle Haftung der Genkonzerne für alle Schäden“.

In der ödp arbeiten Menschen zusammen, die dem Streben von Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft nach "Immer mehr" das Prinzip Verantwortung entgegensetzen: "So leben, dass Zukunft bleibt!". Angestrebt wird eine Wende im Lebens- und Wirtschaftsstil -weg von der Überfluss- und Verschwendungswirtschaft, hin zu Nachhaltigkeit und "echter" Lebensqualität.

Zu den voraussichtlich in drei Jahren eingesparten 2,4 Milliarden Euro Kindergeld erklärt der Bundesgeschäftsführer Dietmar Bartsch:

Die aktuelle Steuerschätzung bringt es an den Tag: Die Große Koalition saniert die Staatsfinanzen nicht nur zu Lasten von Arbeitnehmern, Geringverdienern und Rentnern sondern auch zu Lasten der Kinder. Die Streichung des Kindergeldes für 26- und 27jährige erschwert Kindern aus Arbeitnehmerfamilien und von sozial Benachteiligten den Zugang zu Ausbildung und Studium. SPD und Union manifestieren damit mangelnde Chancengleichheit in der Bildung und vergeuden Ressourcen für die Zukunft. DIE LINKE hat bereits vor zwei Jahren diesen Schritt in die falsche Richtung kritisiert. Haushaltssanierung zu Lasten der Kinder ist eine kurzsichtige und nicht auf die Zukunft des Landes gerichtete Politik. Darüber können auch schöne Sonntagsreden der Kanzlerin und anderer Politiker von Union und SPD nicht hinwegtäuschen, zumal zeitgleich zur Streichung des Kindergeldes Banken und Konzernen Steuergeschenke in Milliardenhöhe gemacht wurden.

After all, in some key areas — Iraq, tax cuts — he represents a continuation of President Bush’s disastrous policies. But, surprise, he has done well in the general election polls pitting him against either Hillary or Obama. … Even a few of my Democrat friends have pronounced themselves OK with a McCain presidency. Frankly, I find this quite frustrating, and feel like asking aloud, ‘Aren’t people paying attention?’ There are several reasons why I couldn’t vote for McCain this fall...
