A blunder means a phone mast which was turned down will still be installed near people's homes.

A bureaucratic blunder means families will soon be living under the shadow of a phone mast, just months after they celebrated the plans being rejected.

A letter sent by council bosses to O2 informing the mobile phone company that its plan had been rejected did not arrive quickly enough and that means the mast will be built in regardless of the decision to refuse it.

Companies in need of antennas must share structures to hold them

The National Authority of Public Services ASEP (Autoridad de Servicios Publicos) has ordered all the companies that install towers to support antennas must share the structures with other enterprises to avoid the proliferation or duplication of installations in the country.

The authority warned that in cases where an agreement cannot be reached over the sharing of towers it will intervene at the request of any of the parties, to guarantee the rights of the communities that feel affected by these structures.

A BAN on putting mobile phone masts on land owned by a Merseyside council could be lifted.

Sefton council is considering a request to lift a moratorium that prohibits mobile telecommunications equipment on its land and buildings.

The argument is that the current rules lead to masts being put up elsewhere – against the wishes of residents and the council.
