More than 200 people have signed a petition against plans for a 20m mobile phone mast which would be disguised to look like a tree.

The proposal to put up the mast in a field at Town End Lane is being considered by Rushcliffe Borough Council's development control committee on Thursday.

A petition against the plans has been signed by 237 people and the council has received 39 letters of objection.

Objectors are concerned about health and safety risks from the mast, impact on the nearby conservation area and the effect on house prices.

Homeowners have vowed to fight against proposals for a mobile phone mast just feet from their gardens.Industry giant T-Mobile has submitted plans to Cheltenham Borough Council for a 12m pole at the corner of Warren Close and Warden Hill Road.

Church phone mast row

AN unholy row has broken out between a church and some of its parishioners over the placing of a mobile phone mast in its tower.

St Stephen's CE Church, a Grade II listed building in Oxford Road, Burnley Wood, held a meeting in church for parishioners who have raised concerns.

HOMEOWNERS in Temple Ewell said they felt "cheated" after the parish council failed to consult with them about the erection of a T-Mobile mast behind their houses.

Angry parishioners claimed that the first they knew about it was when its construction began last month.

As a result, residents said they were unable to express their concerns, particularly at the health risks to their families and the pupils at nearby Temple Ewell Primary School.
