Ewan MacAskill of the Guardian UK reports in Saturday's editions that "the division between President George Bush and Congress over the Iraq war hardened yesterday as the House of Representatives again voted to withdraw most US combat troops from Iraq by April 1" with "Democrats planning a further series of votes in the House and the Senate over the next few weeks to try to tempt Republican dissidents."

Jeff Zeleny reports in The New York Times that "two leading Republican senators said today that President Bush should seek a new war authorization and present a plan to Congress by October 16 outlining contingency plans in Iraq. Those plans, which would include reducing American forces, should begin by the end of the year."
