Families celebrate mast victory

Families have won their battle to prevent another mobile phone mast from being built on their doorsteps, after councillors blocked the proposal.
People living in the Earlham area of Norwich had already contested eight masts and four appeals on the basis they were an unsightly blight on the area where they live.
And this week, members of Norwich City Council's planning committee blocked a proposal by communications giant Orange to build a 12m imitation telegraph police in Earlham Green Lane.
Fourteen letters of object to the plans were sent to City Hall questioning the need for the mast, saying it would be unsightly and raising concerns about the health impact of mast emissions.
