Residents battle on over Tamworth mobile phone mast

Monday, April 27, 2009, 16:45

TAMWORTH residents are up in arms over Vodafone's plans to erect a ten metre high phone mast in their street.

The mobile phone company wants to put a mast in Brindley Drive, to the rear of Selker Drive in Amington.

But the application was turned down by Tamworth Borough Council's planning committee last December.

Now Vodafone is appealing against that decision, and a Government planning inspector will have the final say on the matter.

Selker Drive resident Helen Batchelor is one of many residents who are against the scheme, and has written to the Inspectorate to voice her concerns.

She says it is the wrong location for a mast.

"It's going to be about eight feet away from one resident's house," she said.

"There's bats nesting in trees here, but Vodafone has completely ignored that.

"I think it's ridiculous where they are thinking about putting it.

Europaparlament schafft keine Transparenz

Vodafone to erect phone mast near Risley Moss

12:29pm Monday 27th April 2009

By Nicola Davies

A MUCH-contested phone mast will be erected opposite a children’s play area in Birchwood after receiving the approval of planning councillors.

The 12.3 metre-high Vodafone pole got the go-ahead at a development control meeting last Wednesday despite facing fierce opposition from Birchwood Town councillors and 145 residents concerned with the health implications of a mast close to their homes.

Clr Russell Bowden listed a raft of reasons why the mast should not be sited on Moss Gate, near to the nature reserve Risley Moss.

Swine flu in Mexico: The "New" Bird Flu

by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, DO

We knew this was coming. Even though the bird flu hype was removed years ago from the nightly news, planning for the global pandemic and the development of pandemic flu vaccines has continued with little notice. Our government has instructed FEMA, made checklists for Homeland Security, given action plans to State and local authorities. These plans include methods and drills for global inoculation with a vaccine that will no doubt have the same deadly consequences as the Swine Flu vaccine in 1976........

A Plan Comes Together: The Sheep Obey

by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny

Lessons about bad vaccines are rarely learned and the race to make more experimental doses has never been hotter. In 2005, Congress allocated $3.8 billion to developers with the stated goal of being able to “distribute a vaccine to every American within six months of the onset of a pandemic.” In 2006, our elected representatives went even further to ensure we are vaccinated: They created incentives for manufacturers by funding the Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2005, nicknamed BioShield II.......

Is Swine Flu A Biological Weapon?

Or are relatively limited number of deaths an indication that the panic is worse than the actual threat?

Paul Joseph Watson
Monday, April 27, 2009

There are some factors that suggest the swine flu killing people in Mexico may be a biological weapon, but obviously no such conclusion can be drawn at this time. The World Health Organization and the U.S. government have been quick to deny such claims.

Mexican Swine Flu, An Advanced Biowar Event

Swine Flu Outbreak Could Be Linked to Smithfield Factory Farms

Tom Philpott, Grist: "One flu east, one flu west. The outbreak of a new flu strain - a nasty mash-up of swine, avian, and human viruses - has infected 1,000 people in Mexico and the US, killing 68. The World Health Organization warned Saturday that the outbreak could reach global pandemic levels. Is Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork packer and hog producer, linked to the outbreak? Smithfield operates massive hog-raising operations Perote, Mexico, in the state of Vera Cruz, where the outbreak originated. The operations, grouped under a Smithfield subsidiary called Granjas Carroll, raise 950,000 hogs per year, according to the company Web site."

The crime that cannot be wiped away

by Laurence M. Vance

Regardless of who orders them into battle, regardless of whether they are drafted, and regardless of the reasons they are told the war is necessary, it is the soldiers who do the actual fighting, maiming, and killing. This has been true throughout history. Even if we accept Hannah Arendt’s principle that ‘in general the degree of responsibility increases as we draw further away from the man who uses the fatal instrument with his own hands,’ the soldiers at the bottom still bear diffused responsibility for their actions. Responsibility is not all concentrated in the state’s leaders. To soothe their consciences as they kill and plunder for the state, soldiers justify their acts of death and destruction by the doctrine of concentrated responsibility...

Are banks struggling or scamming?

The Nation/Howl
by Nicholas von Hoffman

After all the money and other kinds of help that has been given to banks or extorted from the public, banks still aren’t lending enough to make a difference in this troubled economy. The Wall Street Journal reports that the biggest financial institutions ‘made or refinanced a total of $226.3 billion of loans in October. In February that figure had fallen to $174.2 billion.’ … You would think that since the banks can borrow money from the government at close to zero-percent interest and lend it at 4 percent to 5 percent, they would be shoving dough out the door into the hands of any vaguely solvent looking passerby, but they’re not...

Iraq: US raid ‘crime’ that breaks security pact

Denver Post

Iraq’s prime minister denounced a deadly U.S. raid on Sunday as a ‘crime’ that violated the security pact with Washington and demanded American commanders hand over those responsible to face possible trial in Iraqi courts. The U.S. military, however, strongly denied that it overstepped its bounds and said it notified Iraqi authorities in advance—in accordance with the rules that took effect this year governing U.S. battlefield conduct...
