Several hundred trucks and buses were used in a go-slow protest in Hong Kong, snarling traffic in that major Asian economic center. Drivers were demanding reductions in fuel taxes. Tens of thousands of Spanish drivers did go-slow protests on major roads, knotting traffic near cities such as Madrid and Barcelona as Portuguese drivers have joined. In China, the government caps gas prices. Drivers there pay about half of what Americans pay. In many countries, oil prices are held artificially low, either by fiat or subsidy. The result? Consumption keeps rising, boosting global prices. The rest of the world — the part now racing to conserve — ends up paying more than it should. Unfair? An der Seite von Bush standen – mehr oder weniger – die deutschen Bundeskanzler. Gerhard Schröder rief zur „uneingeschränkten Solidarität" auf, Angela Merkel wollte deutsche Soldaten in den Irak-Krieg schicken. Beide Bundeskanzler haben Deutschland in den Krieg am Hindukusch verstrickt, um die USA im Nahen Osten zu entlasten.

DIE LINKE will Partnerschaft mit den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern der USA, um weltweit Hunger, Armut und Unterentwicklung zu bekämpfen. DIE LINKE appelliert an die USA: Stoppt die Pläne des Präsidenten Bush, seine Amtszeit mit einem Krieg gegen den Iran zu beenden. „Good bye, Mr. President", und eine Bitte zum Abschied: Wenn Sie Deutschland verlassen, nehmen Sie die US-Atomwaffen gleich mit!
