The Power Elite's Planned Dialectical "Crisis"

In previous articles, I have explained that the power elite uses a dialectical process in order to achieve its objectives, and I thought it would be helpful to explain how this has been used giving a specific historical event the Cuban missile crisis. Most people believe.....

Historic street 'wrecked' by mast

By Richard Bean

The striking skyline of Ashton's most historic street may be "wrecked" by 21st century technology.

Phone giant T-Mobile wants to put a communications mast on the top of the Greensway Shopping Arcade in Ashton's main Gerard Street.

But a councillor claims that the stark structure would make a mockery of the Conservation Area status recently granted to the town centre after an exhaustive survey of its remaining historic buildings.

The end of the GOP

AntiWar.Com
by Justin Raimondo

07/02/07

The political disintegration of the Republicans was preceded by a long, drawn-out intellectual decline that dates from the time of the neoconservative incursion into GOP ranks during the Reagan presidency, when the Scoop Jackson Democrats first landed on right-wing shores and carved out a beachhead in the conservative movement. The birth of ‘Big Government conservatism,’ and the role this oxymoronic set of ideas played in leading to the GOP’s present debacle, sounded the death-knell of the movement as a coherent set of ideas historically rooted in American traditions. Since 9/11, conservatism has reverted back to European-style absolutism, as evidenced by the Right’s embrace of the revisionist theory of the ‘unitary presidency,’ which elevates the president in wartime to monarchical status. That Bruce Fein, a leading conservative legal theorist of the Reagan era, is now calling for the impeachment of Dick Cheney, on the grounds that his office has been the intellectual nerve center of this administration’s bid to rule by edict, signals the end of the GOP coalition as we know it...

Comer Wilson is 66 years old with a long white beard, and he has not had to show his ID to buy beer in a while. But starting Sunday, he and everyone else in Tennessee will be required to show identification before buying beer in state stores — no matter how old the buyer appears. ‘It’s the stupidest law I ever heard of,’ Wilson said. ‘You can see I’m over 21.’ Tennessee is the first U.S. state to make universal carding mandatory, says the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association. However, the law does not apply to beer sales in bars and restaurants, and it does not cover wine and liquor...

Lieberman wants more surveillance cameras

The Hill

07/01/07

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), the chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, said Sunday he wants to ‘more widely’ use surveillance cameras across the country. ‘The Brits have got something smart going in England, and it was part of why I believe they were able to so quickly apprehend suspects in the terrorist acts over the weekend, and that is they have cameras all over London and other of their major cities,’ Lieberman said. ‘I think it’s just common sense to do that here much more widely,’ he added. ‘And of course, we can do it without compromising anybody’s real privacy.’ Lieberman lamented the ‘petty, partisan fighting’ in Congress and called on his colleagues to join together to upgrade the nation’s electronic surveillance capabilities....

Abuse of Executive Privilege

An editorial in The New York Times this morning takes the Bush administration to task for its recent claims of "executive privilege" but, the Times notes, "Congress is finally challenging President Bush's campaign to trample all legal and constitutional restraints on his power. Congressional committees have issued subpoenas for documents and witnesses in two major cases and have asked for the first - and likely not the last - criminal investigation of an executive branch official who might have lied to Congress."

Cheney: The Caretaker Who Took Over Is EXPOSED

JOIN NOW 80,000 OF YOUR FELLOW CONSTITUENTS BY VOTING IN THE NATIONAL CHENEY IMPEACHMENT POLL

Even as he was being nominated for president, it was known by those pushing him forward that George W. Bush was entirely inadequate to the job, a perennial screw up, good for nothing more than swagger and strut. So it was that Dick Cheney was allowed to install himself as the erstwhile caretaker of Mr. Not Ready To Be President. But what those gaming our election system failed to appreciate was the extent that Cheney would mutate into an even more dangerous and scary screw up that Bush himself, after he took over the entire White House process in a bureaucratic palace coup.

VOTE ON CHENEY IMPEACHMENT: http://www.usalone.com/cheney_impeachment.php

Evidence that even hard right wing conservatives are as petrified as the rest of us about what Cheney might try to do next comes in the form of a four part expose published this week in the Washington Post, detailing the criminal conspiracy that Cheney has made his office the heart of. It is not long ago that such a piece would have been quashed entirely. And you will find a link to this devastating indictment in the "Arguments" section of the action page above where you can vote whether Cheney should be impeached or not

Bruce Fein is a former Reagan deputy attorney general, and an alumni of the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute. It doesn't get more right wing than that. Yet, he wrote a piece for Slate Magazine his week calling for the immediate impeachment of Cheney, saying "the vice president has run utterly amok and must be stopped." Go to the action page and follow the link to this article as well.

VOTE ON CHENEY IMPEACHMENT: http://www.usalone.com/cheney_impeachment.php

Some have floated the trial balloon that Cheney may step down for health reasons in the face of all this. We consider it unlikely that Cheney will loosen his death grip on the power he has seized without being forced out. But even if he were to try to stage a voluntary retirement, for the integrity of our constitutional system we must all speak out to make sure he that when he does leave it is under the darkest possible cloud. The faster we get people to speak out the bigger and darker that cloud will become.

Sy Hersh reiterated this week he is convinced that Cheney is obsessed with launching an unprovoked attach on Iran, and is still the driving force behind such a lunatic move. He said in as many words that every day Cheney remains in office, he himself has to grab his butt with both hands every morning to make sure it's still there. The video clip is linked from the action page too. See how it strikes you.

VOTE ON CHENEY IMPEACHMENT: http://www.usalone.com/cheney_impeachment.php

And if there were not enough reasons already to impeach Cheney, more and more keep piling up like dead fish, literally. We now learn that Cheney was the primary villain in wiping out the Coho salmon run, by diverting water to buy the support of a couple rich ranchers in Oregon to swing a race in the Senate there. For your debating illumination, one of our own participants, Professor of Law Emeritus Leonard R. Jaffee, has produced an extensive analysis of grounds for Cheney impeachment which you can read for yourself on the action page along with everything else.

In the third section of his piece Professor Jaffee goes through each and every ground for impeachment of Dick Cheney we can already prove, including the latest scandals. Of ALL votes in the National Cheney Impeachment Polls so far, 99.18 percent have been Yes to impeach. All we have to do is get everyone to speak out who has an opinion, and Congress will change gears even faster than they did on the immigration bill this week, which proves, if nothing else, that if we the people speak out in sufficient numbers, they absolutely WILL act.

Help to build those numbers by casting your vote in the National Cheney Impeachment Poll now.

Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed to be ours, and forward this message to everyone else you know.

Time Is Right for New Pentagon Papers

By Amy Goodman

Of the Democratic presidential candidates, Sen. Mike Gravel is probably the least well recognized. His dark-horse candidacy may be the butt of jokes on the late-night comedy shows, but that doesn't faze former Pentagon analyst Daniel Ellsberg: "Here is a senator who was not afraid to look foolish. That is the fear that keeps people in line all their lives."

Criminality, Immorality, Incompetence and Desperation

By Walter C. Uhler

In order to support their BIG LIE about the grave and growing threat to the U.S. posed by Iraq, the Bush/Cheney regime not only pressured the intelligence community to produce conclusions that supported its own preconceptions about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction and ties to al-Qaida, it also embellished and lied about that intelligence. Moreover, it fabricated damning intelligence where the intelligence community found none.

Imminent Crises: Threats and Opportunities
