5:28 PM

By Chris Bone

5:00pm Monday 12th January 2009

By Neil Skinner

Protesters opposed to the building of a mobile phone mast in a quiet country lane came face to face with construction workers this morning.

A number of residents wrote to Waveney District Council to oppose the application, many of whom claimed it would be an eyesore and too tall at 12.5m.

U.S. safety group calls for cellphone driving ban

Reuters

01/11/09

The National Safety Council, which campaigned to get U.S. states to enforce seatbelt laws, is taking on cellphones, saying on Sunday it was starting a campaign to ban all use of mobile phones while driving. Even so-called hands-free devices should be banned, because studies show they do not make it any safer to talk on the telephone while driving, the group said. … Froetscher said her group would call governors and state legislators and ask them to ban all use of cellphones while driving. She is confident the group can get states to change their laws...
