Mast campaigner takes on the world
The country's most renowned mobile phone mast campaigner is organising a unique conference to debate the pros and cons of masts.
Elieen O'Connor, who recently moved to Formby, hopes to bring together delegates from across the globe to a two-day event - the first of its kind - in London in the summer.

Residents angry with phone mast plan

Residents opposed to a mobile phone mast in the middle of their neighbourhood are calling for support to launch a campaign against it.
They were enraged when members of Mid Sussex District Council's central area planning committee gave approval for a mast to be put next to the railway embankment and bridge in Balcombe Road, Haywards Heath.
The 10-metre telegraph-style mast with an equipment cabinet at its base will be operated by Orange PCS Ltd. The equipment will replace an existing site at Central Sussex College, on a building that is due to be demolished.
Councillors received 20 letters and two petitions signed by 22 people objecting to the mast because of health fears as well as visual impact and affect on property prices.

VILLAGERS in Coalpit Heath are celebrating after winning a hard fought campaign against plans for a new mobile phone mast.
Hundreds of people in the village had shown opposition to plans by Vodafone to erect a 12 metre high mast at the junction of Badminton Road and Woodside Road.
Residents claimed it would be "an eyesore" too close to their homes and had raised concerns about the possible impact on their health.
