PEOPLE in Kingswinford are living in fear of mobile phone masts which they believe could be killing them.

Campaigners say the eyesore, on the High Acres estate, maybe causing a cancer hotspot in the area after a series of cases - including four deaths - in a small cul-de-sac just yards from the site.

MORE than 30 residents attended a meeting last night to rally opposition to a phone mast erected without planning permission.

The T-Mobile mast went up in Little Lever last September, despite approval being refused by Bolton Council the previous April.

The council issued an enforcement notice to get the mast removed but the company appealed against it.

Trustee raising concerns over deal

LODI - Lodi Unified Trustee Bonnie Cassel is speaking out against contract agreements reached between the district and two wireless telephone companies to install cell phone towers on high school campuses.

Cassel, who was the lone dissenter in a 6-1 vote to approve the contracts in February, says the district should think twice about allowing companies to install cell phone towers that emit radiofrequency radiation, because she believes they could cause long-term health effects.
