SOUTHINGTON - Neighbors who live near a water tank in the area of High Tower Road are concerned about the number of cell phone antennas attached to the 63-foot-tall structure.

"The (cell) towers are right in the middle of the neighborhood," said Elizabeth Pirro, who has lived on High Tower Road for nearly 40 years.

There are now three cell antennas on the tank, the latest addition for Pocket Wireless of San Antonio, Texas. The installation took place in the spring, according to several neighbors.

The public said at a hearing 10 years ago they didn't want any antennas, Pirro said. "I thought they voted not to put any there."

Vodafone has applied for permission to install the masts at The College bar on Aberdeen’s Alford Place.

Inspectors have rejected a second bid to build a mobile phone mast next to a neigbourhood pub.

Planners at Sunderland City Council rejected Vodafone's scheme to build the 3G mast next to the Three Tuns pub in High Street, Easington Lane, in January.

They said the 12metre-high column, which would have three antennae, would have a negative impact on the appearance of the area.

Hetton Town Council also objected to the mast because of the site's nearness to Easington Lane Primary School.

We weren’t sure he was going to even go this far, but according to news reports over the weekend, Attorney General Holder has decided on a ‘narrow’ investigation into torture. In fact, it’s so narrow that it won’t investigate any of the torture that was authorized by DOJ functionary John Yoo at all. Using inverted pretzel logic, they are apparently going to go after those who failed to follow John Yoo’s directives. For instance, according to the LA Times, Holder will not investigate allegations of waterboarding in themselves, but rather if they failed to properly follow their waterboarding instructions to the letter …
