ANOTHER application for a mobile phone mast near Holly Spring Junior School has sparked outrage among worried parents.

The application from T Mobile for the mast at the corner of Highclere Road and London Road in Bullbrook comes just months after a similar application was thrown out by council bosses.

The attempted London car bombings were meant to be detonated by calls to mobile phones in the two vehicles, but failed for technical reasons, the Evening Standard reported Monday. The calls made on the phones allowed police to trace those behind the failed attacks last Friday, the London daily evening newspaper said, without giving sources. The phones were meant to set off blasts when they were called, but the devices failed to detonate the mixture of gas canisters and nails in the two Mercedes cars parked in London’s entertainment district...

The striking skyline of Ashton's most historic street may be "wrecked" by 21st century technology.

Phone giant T-Mobile wants to put a communications mast on the top of the Greensway Shopping Arcade in Ashton's main Gerard Street.

But a councillor claims that the stark structure would make a mockery of the Conservation Area status recently granted to the town centre after an exhaustive survey of its remaining historic buildings.

People living in the west side of the city are trying to fight off plans for a mast near their homes before it reaches the planning stage.

T-Mobile has sent out consultation letters in the Waterworks Road area to gauge reactions to its plans for the 15ft mast on an industrial estate.

The mast would only be about 200 yards from Wensum Middle School, whose headteacher Kim Breen said today: “I would be concerned if it was that close to the school. I would like to see what the health implications would be and the building implications.”
