By Nurinder Johal

Angry: Richard Thompson front with Kilsby residents in front of the mobile phone mast (MAST_079007)

RESIDENTS are angry about a phone mast that has been built in their village because of a council blunder.

They claim the 15-metre mast situated at the mouth of Kilsby tunnel is an eyesore and want it to be taken down.

--------

And still it goes on, week after week! The guilty LPA planning officers
(who give their so-called professional advice to councillors and so often recommend approval of telecoms applications without due consideration of the pros and cons) demonstrate yet again their incompetence and ignorance of the associated legislation. Any complaint to the Local Government Ombudsman in such circumstances is all very well but the sooner someone takes an LPA to court (vide the the learned statements of three Appeal Court judges in the 'Bardsey' case) the better. We might then see something being done!

Mobile mast plans sparks safety row

MOBILE phone company, TMobile UK, has applied to put up a 13 metre-high mast in a residential part of Ringwood.

The mast, along with equipment cabinets, is planned for a site at the junction of Eastfield Lane and Gorley Road.

But those plans have upset some residents on Eastfield Lane, who claim heavy goods vehicles are already using the road as a "rat run" and a mast would pose "more danger" to motorists and walkers.

And Ringwood Town Council's planning committee is recommending refusal for the mast, claiming its location would have an "adverse" affect on traffic safety.

This country (Trinidad) seems to have found a good use of its army - removal of illegal cell phone towers. My question is this - If cell phone towers are causing illness and death to the population, are they not all illegal? How can the financial interests of cell phone companies, come above the health and safety of a population?

Health concerns arise over wireless Internet in schools

BY KIRK STARRATT

The Advertiser

She has advocated against cell phone technology in the past. Now a Wolfville woman is trying to keep wireless Internet from being installed in local schools her children attend out of concern for their health.

Barb Lake, who has been forced to move five times in three years to escape the negative health effects she and her family members have experienced due to exposure to electromagnetic radiation from cellphone transmissions, said it has been an ongoing request of hers since 2002 that her children’s teachers leave their cellphones in their desks turned off.
