RESIDENTS have united to oppose a plan to put a 40 ft high phone mast just yards from a primary school.

Phone company Orange plans to build the antenna at the junction of Foxes Piece and Little Marlow Road.

The site is around the corner from Foxes Piece Combined School, which has a nursery, and Brooke Furmston Place, which provides sheltered accommodation for elderly people.

RESIDENTS have vowed to fight plans for a new mobile phone mast on Allington Hill in Bridport.

They fear that the 10-metre pole from Vodafone would spoil the beauty spot for families, dog-walkers and ramblers.

Vodafone has lodged a pre-planning notice with West Dorset District Council stating its intent to erect the mast.

The Western Regional Branch of the Environmental Protection Agency has ordered Westel and Celtel Mobile Communication Companies to stop work on the erection of their mast at Housing, Mangoase Residential area in Takoradi and secure permit before they go ahead with the project. The EPA has also directed Tigo, Ghana Telecom and MTN which already have their masts in operation in the area to stop operations and follow the same procedure for securing permit from the Agency.

A CONTROVERSIAL phone mast in Bardsey will be taken down to make way for development.

Orange Personal Communications Services has been served a notice to remove its Scarsdale Ridge mast by the field’s owner, who plans to develop the land.

But Orange recently erected a new mast close to its existing one on the site although this has now been demolished.

A PLAN for a new 40ft mobile phone mast in Laverstock has caused uproar amongst residents who claim it would be a health hazard, a danger to wildlife and a blot on the landscape.

Phone company Vodafone has applied for planning permission to site the mast on land owned by Salisbury District Council at Cow Lane, within 100m of homes and close to both Chafyn Grove and Godolphin schools.

HUNDREDS of objectors to a planned phone mast have vowed to protest against a decision to site it in a Cardiff suburb.

A meeting to discuss the protests will be held at Bethany Baptist Church, Rhiwbina, after Cardiff council gave permission for O2 to erect a phone mast in nearby Heol Llanishen Fach.

PARENTS fear their children’s health could be put at risk if a 12.5-metre mobile phone mast is built next to a primary school.

Mobile phone company O2 – which says there is no evidence of any risk to health – has submitted a planning application for the “telecommunications installation” close to Christ the King Roman Catholic Primary School, in Llanishen, Cardiff.

Almost 450 parents, residents and parishioners have signed a petition objecting to the plans.
