The health care debate is no longer about health care. It is about America and what it means to live in a free society. President Barack Obama and his congressional cohorts have abandoned everything we as a people have held dear for more than two centuries. They are running roughshod over the Constitution and ignoring the idea that certain American values are more important than accomplishing political goals...

As we’ve seen in the last two TGIFs, Destutt de Tracy, writing in early nineteenth-century France, had solid insights about the market process and government spending as a form of consumption not investment. (See ‘Jefferson’s Economist’ and ‘Government as Consumer.’) In light of that, no one will be surprised that Tracy opposed government borrowing. In this day of trillion-dollar-plus federal deficits, his critique is especially relevant...
Never in the history of our country have there been so many people who believe they are ‘entitled’ simply because they exist. America’s current economic crisis and the exorbitant amount of personal debt is evidence of this twisted mentality. Over several generations society has taught the wrong values resulting in a populace that is totally clueless when it comes to right and wrong or basic respect for other peoples rights. We are facing the downfall of society as we know it and the price will be mind numbing...
Daan de Wit, Deep Journal: "Under President Obama, Iran continues to dominate the world agenda. Iran is being presented as a crucial problem that must be solved. The Iran Problem is one with several layers. The uppermost layer is that Iran is a potential threat to world peace. What are the facts and the fiction that make up this first layer?"
Daan de Wit, DeepJournal: "The battle against Iran has already begun. War is only one phase of this process - just as it was with Iraq. The preparation is the most important part of the battle. Whoever thought that the preparation for war ended when Barack Obama took office is advised to take note of the views of critical thinker Noam Chomsky in the previous installment of this DeepJournal series. He says that Obama's policy on Iran is a continuation of the policy of his predecessor, President Bush."
Ali Fathollah-Nejad, Truthout: "In contradistinction to war, sanctions are widely portrayed as necessary, almost a healthy medicine to bring about change in the opponent’s policies. However, as the history of the West–Iran conflict proves, sanctions have kept the crisis alive rather than contribute to its resolution. Nonetheless, Western governments do not seem to have lost their dubious fascination for them."
On the non-Marxist left, the triumph of the Obama cult is complete. Only the old-fashioned Leninists, such as the main organizers of the ANSWER rallies, have come out in visible opposition to Obama’s wars. Even the Marxist left, however, is not immune to Obama-mania: the other major antiwar coalition, United for Peace and Justice, led by veterans of the old Communist Party, USA, issued a euphoric statement upon Obama’s election and has been essentially moribund as an active antiwar organization ever since. It was in this kind of political atmosphere, then — one of near complete political isolation — that rally attendees heard Cindy Sheehan wonder whether ‘the honeymoon was over with that war criminal in the White House.’ Sheehan’s remark was met, according to AP, with merely ‘moderate applause’...
Cindy Sheehan discusses the start of the Peace of the Action civil resistance against war and empire in Washington, DC, the scarcity of both peace activists who are willing to challenge a Democratic president and pro-war hecklers who demand obedience to "Commander in Chief" Obama.
It seems like we march past empty buildings and shake our fists at them and promise that if those empty buildings don't change their ways, we will be back next year to do the same thing.
There was a protest or demonstration in over 150 cities the week of March 20th. This video shows video and photos of maybe twenty events across the country combining interviews, speeches, and demonstration observations.

In 8 years of war, ranks of amputees have risen steadily
After the blast, something didn't feel right, so 1st Lt. Joe Guyton looked down. Through the swirling dust, he glimpsed the white of his left shinbone. His right leg was gone, instantly vaporized, his uniform abruptly ending at the knee.

Thousands in U.S. protest against war; seek troop withdrawal
On the seventh anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, thousands of people from across the United States today converged on Lafayette Square, opposite the White House in Washington DC. The rally then marched through downtown DC, halting en route at the premises of military contractor Halliburton, the Mortgage Bankers Association and The Washington Post offices.
