Legal Action You Can Take Against Forced Vaccinations

Petition re UK proposed compulsory vaccination

Takes 10 seconds to do...

You may be aware that the government is considering making vaccination compulsory in order to attend UK schools & to claim child benefit. The link below will take you to a Downing Street petition if you want to re cord your opposition to it. This will only take a minute.

My apologies if you've received this before or if you're not a UK national. I think this is so important that I've sent it to my whole address book.

I am concerned that such a measure does not become law not just because the issue relate to vaccination. It also involves access to the education system and the welfare state being dependent on adherence to certain behaviours and beliefs and would therefore set a deplorable precedent.

A Labour MP has recently suggested forcing all children to be vaccinated otherwise they cannot attend school and parents should not receive child benefits. Vaccinations can cause various injuries to children and also manipulate only specific parts of the immune system and not necessarily all the appropriate parts.

People power as mast company makes U-turn

3:09pm Wednesday 26th November 2008

Residents are celebrating after a U-turn by a mobile phone company which has agreed not to site a mast outside a Halesowen pub.

A representative from 02 told a 60-strong meeting that an alternative site had been found after objections to the mast being erected on a grass verge outside the Maypole pub in Bassnage Road.

The meeting at Lutley Community Centre was told the company was now applying for the 15m tall mast to be positioned in the hedgerow at the nearby junction of Rosemary Road and Lansdowne Road.

If the application is accepted by Dudley Council 02 will plant more trees in the hedgerow to further conceal the mast.

Can Government Keep Spending? Most Economists Say Yes

Jack Chang, McClatchy Newspapers: "Since the US economy went into freefall in September, the federal government has announced hundreds of billions of dollars in bailouts and economic stimulus packages in attempts to shore up banks and reignite the economy."

http://www.truthout.org/112608D

Economic Rescue Could Cost $8.5 Trillion

Jim Puzzanghera, The Los Angeles Times: "With its decision last week to pump an additional $1 trillion into the financial crisis, the government eliminated any doubt that the nation is on a wartime footing in the battle to shore up the economy. The strategy now -- and in the coming Obama administration -- is essentially the win-at-any-cost approach previously adopted only to wage a major war. And that means no hesitation in pledging to spend previously almost unimaginable sums of money and running up federal budget deficits on a scale not seen since World War II."

As Mortgages Went Bad, New Century Executives Cashed Out

William Heisel, The Los Angeles Times: "The subprime lending industry was starting to buckle under the weight of bad loans in November 2006, when executives at Irvine-based New Century Financial Corp. held a conference call to release their latest earnings. Loan volume was down and defaults were up, the earnings report showed, and in recent weeks at least five stock analysts had downgraded the company's shares. Moreover, four executives had sold nearly $20 million in stock in the last four months, six times as much as they had sold over the previous 12 months. That led one analyst to ask whether there was anything investors should know."

Concerns at new mobile phone mast

Published Date: 26 November 2008

By Laura Crothers

A worried mother has voiced her fears about a planned Scarborough mobile phone mast which she claims could pose a health risk.

Mother-of-three Jennifer Adams, 45, raised her concerns after Scarborough Council gave planning permission for a 50ft Vodafone mast at the junction of Stepney Road and Stepney Drive.

Mrs Adams, of Stepney Road, fears that the transmissions given off by the mast may not only prove dangerous to her family but also students at the nearby Scarborough Sixth Form College and the residents of Combe Hay House, the George Edward Smart care home for the elderly.

Paulson wants consumers to borrow more

Steady as she sinks

National Review
by the editors

11/25/08

By speaking of a two-year recovery plan, President-Elect Barack Obama has made it clear that the gathering economic gloom is going to continue gathering for some time. The stretching of time horizons is politically astute: If the economy picks up ahead of schedule, he will have beaten expectations; if not, he will have done what he can to avoid blame. … the policies that command Democratic attention right now are orthodox Keynesian ones: have the government put money into the economy, and give it to those recipients who are most likely to spend it. Which neatly fits Democratic proclivities: They are happy to give federal money to lower-income workers and state and local governments. We are less enthusiastic...

The Bailout, the Media, and the War Party

AntiWar.Com
by Justin Raimondo

11/26/08

So here we have the intersection of two very dangerous phenomena, which, in combination, could prove deadly to our democracy and subversive in a way no foreign conspiracy ever could be. All by itself, a love-struck media — which has been in the tank for Obama since the early primaries — wouldn’t be so bad. After all, any half-intelligent Epsilon-Minus Semi-Moron can see through the bias, which is often unapologetic, as in Matthews’ case. However, add to this the breaching of the wall between the government and the corporate parents of major media outlets, and you’re entering some very dangerous territory. With the government in control of the commanding heights of the American economy — the financial sector, which, like GE, has its tentacles wrapped around the communications industry — the difference between private and state-controlled media is near abolition. The boundary between media and government has always been rather blurred, at least socially, and now the connection is being cemented with plenty of cash...

Judging detainees on the facts

Boston Globe
by Sabin Willett

11/30/08

Earlier this month, US District Judge Richard Leon ruled in the case of six Bosnians held at Guantanamo Bay. One is Lakhdar Boumediene, the lead petitioner in last summer’s Supreme Court decision restoring the rights of Guantanamo detainees to a habeas corpus hearing. So Judge Leon gave him that hearing, and Boumediene won. The judge ruled that he is not an enemy combatant. Boumediene himself was not there. He and the other Bosnians were listening at Guantanamo. When the hearing was over, the MPs switched off the monitor. Then they took Boumediene back to his isolation cell in the solitary confinement prison at Guantanamo’s Camp 6, where he remains today...

Disposable Youth in a Suspect Society

Henry A. Giroux, Truthout: "While there is little question that the United States - with its burgeoning police state, its infamous title as the world leader in jailing its own citizens, and its history of foreign and domestic 'torture factories' - has moved into lockdown (and lockout) mode both at home and abroad, it is a mistake to assume that the Bush administration is solely responsible for transforming the United States to the degree that it has now become unrecognizable to itself as a democratic nation. What the United States has become in the last decade suggests less of a rupture than an intensification of a number of already existing political, economic, and social forces that since the late 1970s have unleashed the repressive anti-democratic tendencies lurking beneath the damaged heritage of democratic ideals."

Aktuelle Grundeinkommensmodelle in Deutschland - Vergleichende Darstellung

Military action may sometimes be moral and constitutional, but not smart

Independent Institute
by Ivan Eland

11/24/08

“President-elect Barack Obama — showing the obligatory toughness toward foreign ‘evildoers’ needed (especially by Democrats) in American political campaigns — pledged to use the American military to go after al Qaeda in Pakistan. Of all people, his hawkish rival, Senator John McCain, who supported the unprovoked U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, criticized Obama’s approach toward Pakistan as unnecessarily incendiary. McCain’s criticism of Obama’s proposed tactics, however, was undermined by the outgoing Bush administration’s same policy. The administration has been sending unpiloted drones deeper and deeper into Pakistani territory to attack suspected al Qaeda and Taliban targets and has, on at least one occasion, used heliborne U.S. Special Forces to launch a ground attack on such sites within Pakistan. So this policy has at least some bipartisan endorsement. It also appears to have some moral sanction resulting from the right to retaliate against the perpetrators and enablers of the September 11 attacks on the United States. But the real question is whether such reflexively aggressive measures are smart policy. For the answer, some enlightenment can be gained from examining the actions of past presidents...

Was the present financial meltdown planned?

Freedom's Phoenix

I personally believe that McCain may very well have been elected if he had said ‘NO’ to the economic ‘bail-out’ — he was moving ahead in the polls at that point — but when he agreed to it he sealed his doom. He went down with the Bush Economic Titanic. Obama didn’t create it, so he wasn’t blamed for it. The election for the McCain/Palin ticket was finished. But it was all theater for the masses. The real program was being played out behind the scenes by President Bush with the leaders of the European Union...

With respect to the ongoing series of bailouts, my colleague Iain Murray pointed out that some sensible British commentators note that one of the ways to prevent entities from becoming ‘Too Big to Fail’ is to engage in more vigorous antitrust activity. I’m very, very skeptical of their idea, however. Speaking of entities Too Big To Fail, perhaps the gravest threat we face now is the federal government’s further collectivizing of risk, and unconstrained assumption of authority over virtually all commerce...

Starving for Change

Chris Hedges, Truthdig: "The swelling numbers waiting outside homeless shelters and food pantries around the country, many of them elderly or single women with children, have grown by at least 30 percent since the summer. General welfare recipients receive $140 a month in cash and another $140 in food stamps. This is all many in Trenton and other impoverished areas have to live on. There are now 36.2 million Americans who cope daily with hunger, up by more than 3 million since 2000, according to the Food Research and Action Center in Washington, DC. The number of people in the worst-off category - the hungriest - rose by 40 percent since 2000, to nearly 12 million people."

Job Centers See Crush of People in Need

Damien Cave, The New York Times: "They have little in common: Ron Jones, 52, short and strong, a union carpenter with decades of work experience; and Jerome Grant, 20, tall and thin, a Jamaican immigrant with a degree in culinary arts. But the economy has pushed them to the same difficult place. On a recent morning, they sat across from each other at a one-stop career center here, feverishly applying for two months of temporary work with United Parcel Service. The pay was $8.50 an hour. There were 150 slots, and more than 300 applicants."

Guantanamo Justice After Seven Years

Marjorie Cohn, Jurist: "Since the Bush administration began transporting men and boys to Guantanamo Bay in January 2002, it has tried to prevent them from presenting their cases before a neutral federal judge. Indeed, the naval base was turned into a prison camp precisely to keep the detainees away from impartial courts. The government argued that federal courts had no jurisdiction over men detained on Cuban soil. Twice, the Supreme Court rejected that argument, finding that the United States exercises complete jurisdiction and control over the Guantanamo Bay base."

The automotive bailouts

Ayn R. Key
by Ayn R. Key

The ‘Big Three’ of the automobile industry are lining up to be next at the trough of government funds. For a pleasant change, Congress is insisting on knowing what the money will be spent on before wasting it on yet another bailout that will do more harm than good. If they do not get a bailout, they will probably have to go into Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which will cause a restructuring of the companies and a renegotiation of the contracts. The companies will not actually disappear. While it was the executives that went to Washington to ask for the bailout, the major supporter of the bailout is the unions...
