Kopenhagen-Vereinbarung verfehlt 2°C-Klimaziel

Die zur Kopenhagen-Vereinbarung eingereichten Selbstverpflichtungen der Länder, ihre Treibhausgasemissionen zu reduzieren, werden die globale Erwärmung nicht auf zwei Grad Celsius begrenzen. Tatsächlich bedeuten sie einen Anstieg der globalen Mitteltemperatur um mehr als drei Grad Celsius in diesem Jahrhundert. Das berichtet ein Forscherteam um Joeri Rogelj und Malte Meinshausen vom Potsdam-Institut für Klimafolgenforschung (PIK) in der aktuellen Ausgabe des Journals „Nature“.

Anger at decision to go ahead with mast in Ponteland

A TELECOMS giant has sparked anger by deciding to put up a mobile phone mast outside a popular primary school - despite only getting planning approval because of a council blunder.

Parents and local residents yesterday slammed Telefonica O² bosses for pressing ahead with the controversial plan to site the 12.5m high mast next to 450-pupil Darras Hall First School in Ponteland, Northumberland.
